Last night on TV they reported that the Clippers would sign Prince if the Celtics bought out his contract.  Maybe I didn't hear the report correctly or it was a rumor.  Wouldn't that be considered tampering?

If a Clippers employee made that offer to Prince or gave that quote to the media yes.

But I'm guessing it was all "anonymous sources" and "hypotheticals" to the media.

Bingo.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

No way will help them without getting something back, we own their pick so the only way we release Price for them to sign is if we no longer have that pick.

Dumb move on the Clippers part (if the rumor's legit) - we now have a pretty good incentive not to buy him out.  A choice between shaving a million dollars or so off the payroll vs picking perhaps 2-3 spots higher is probably pretty easy to make.

I'd rather trade Prince to another Western team fighting for a play-off spot (OKC?) for a 2025 2nd round draft pick than let him walk and sign with the Clips.  Prince is still good, and can help a team like that.  He has no ego, plays great team ball, still can defend well.  Man, I wish we could have had him on our squad in game 7 vs. Lakers in 2011.

To foulweatherfan:

It's not exactly a state secret that the Clips need help on the wing.  So, this is not exactly a dumb move and it also explains why the Cs are not getting good offers for the remaining veterans.  Why give up an asset to get somebody who might soon be bought out?

As to the other posts, if a Clippers employee mentioned Prince by name, it might technically be tampering but the Cs aren't going to complain about it.

Facilitating the Clips getting Rivers was basically just a classy move by us to give the Clips a nice, heartwarming story and maybe to give Doc a chance to get his kid's game straightened out.  It basically cost us nothing.

I've been maybe thinking that we should get KG for the Rondo trade exception, buy him out and let him go to the Clips, but KG may not be having all that.

Let's remember that if the Clips hadn't constantly leaked to the media about the deal, they might have gotten Doc and KG and Pierce.  Those folks are not great strategic thinkers.
