Random NBA History

The NBA's first season started in 1946.  The league reluctantly adopted the old ABA's 3-Point line prior to Bird & Magic's rookie seasons in 1979.  Kevin Grevey of the Bullets hit the first ever 3.  If memory serves, Chris Ford hit the first for the C's.  While 1946 seems like ancient history, it's strange to recognize that the league has now gone longer with the 3 as a rule, than without.

Another thing I find strange:  Are there simply fewer really tall guys now, or has the league given up on the trees?  In league history there have been 20 guys 7'3" or taller who have stepped on the court for at least one game.  The only current player is Thabeet, and the only other guy in the last decade was Yao Ming.  Did Yao's fragility or Bradley's frailness scare teams off, or is there simply a dearth of giants.

I think extremely tall guys have brittle health but a lot of them simply were not good.
