Ainge on trading deadline

I think Ainge is trying to drum up business by putting this out.  I don't see that there is that much we can do.  There does not seem to be that much interest in our vets (Bass, Thornton, Prince, Wallace and even Turner) and I am not sure any big names are going to move (Cousins for example).  We don't need more draft picks so trading even trading picks would be OK with me but we aren't going to trade good picks for half season rentals (Dragic, Kantor).

I really don't see much opportunity at this point.

Cousins > Monroe > Kanter

Now if we're talking Drummond, that's a different story.  But from what I understand Detroit loves Drummond.  So our only realistic chance at a top shelf starting 5 is probably a Cousins trade.

He could also stand pat and do nothing. Pretty much all the salty veterans, aside from Wallace are expiring anyway (Not counting Turner or Bradley)  If nobody makes a good enough offer for Bass, Thornton, or Prince, we could buy em out, or let the contracts run out, and let them walk.

I don't see the Kings trading away cousins right now
In order to get him u need players that fit in with what there owner is trying to do with the team : position less basketball

So they would be good young players that can play multiple positions plus useful veterans that can help win now and throw in at least 1 pick

The owner puts less emphasis in the draft as we swe with him not minding to trade his recently drafted rookie.

Also he seems like a win now guy like Prokorov and would trade picks mindlessly for the chance to win.

Kanter is a different case. He doesn't play defence that well and he is not as good in creating his Offense in the post as projected.
Moving forward Utah see favors and gobert as their future frontcourt

I don't like kanter but if we gave Utah an expiring contract plus a 2nd rounder I wouldn't mind getting him and seeing how far he develops

Turning point:

Think he's trying to say depending on any deals he makes decides the direction of the team for the next 3-5 years. He could trade for more picks and go with a full on youth movement or trade for some vets and be more competitive now.

I may be off base here but from what I can tell nobody prefers Kanter to Cousins as players. Cousins is far superior in every aspect of the game. As follows, he costs a whole lot more. As a disgruntled player on an expiring deal we could probably get Kanter for cheap.  How cheap I dont know but we certainly would not need to give up our building block type assets (Young, Smart, Sully, our 2015 1st, Brooklyn 1sts). Cousins on the other hand is probably not available at all and if he is getting him would gut out entire roster.

People who would rather drop a late first on Kanter than gut the entire roster of assets and draft picks for Cousins are not so unreasonable in my opinion.
