Golden State gotta be the #1 bench in the league

* Iggy and David Lee both coming off the bench.
* Ezeli and Speights as extra big man depth.
* Shaun Livingston and Barbosa as guard depth (weakest part of bench).
* Brandon Rush as extra wing depth

too easy to simply say no, and not interesting either. how about we change up the thread question a bit:

where would you rank the celtics bench among other nba benches?

there, maybe that will create a bit more lively conversation.  :)

The Celtics bench averages 39.7 points per game (6th), 15.9 rebounds (12th), 9.7 assists (3rd), 3.7 steals (2nd), 1.9 blocks (10th), 5.5 turnovers (4th worst), 47.6% FG% (5th).

So, the production actually isn't bad.  However, a lot of it is skewed because the Boston bench is 5th in minutes played.

so, what i hear you saying is they are better than chopped liver.  ;D

thanks for the link by the way. those are interesting stats. tp for the work roy.
He's saying they get more stats because they get more minutes.  They get more minutes because our starting lineup is filled with bench players.

There is absolutely nothing weak about Leandro Barbosa.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Yes, the C's have one of the best bench units in the league.

And what's wild is the Celtics' bench scoring efficiency is pretty much the same/better than their starters. Defensive efficiency is better, too, but that might be a product of facing opposing bench units.

Some other candidates:

1) Golden State: Like others have mentioned.

2) Toronto: They bring TRoss, James Johnson, Louis Williams, and Psycho T among others.

3) Houston: Josh Smith and Corey Brewer could be defensive-oriented starters. Terry can still shoot.

4) Suns: Gerald Green and Isaiah Thomas bring a ton of scoring. The other Morris and the other Plumlee are competent.

5) Lakers: I'm a big fan of the Lakers' bench. Lin, Boozer, and Swaggy P often outperform the starters.

6) Spurs: Lots of competent NBA players and Manu. They've found a gold mine in building their roster with foreign players.

Again people don't understand my post. I said our starting 5 is full of benh players, once we get a legit starting 5 our bench will then be our starting 5 now, in essence be the best bench in the league.

So we're going to acquire an entirely new starting 5 without giving up any of ur current starters?

Yep.  If you flip it around, you see that they Boston bench is also 6th worst in points allowed.

If you normalize to "per 48 minutes", you DO find that Boston's bench maintains it's offensive rankings, still posting 6th best points per 48, 5th in assists/48, etc.

But on rebounding, they drop to 20th in rebounds per 48 and on defense they allow the 2nd most points per 48.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.
