I listen to everyone talk about some of the talented college centers this year, and I agree this is a real good year for NCAA centers.

Would we be better off trading for one, and or signing one as a free agent?

It takes 3-4 years for a 20 year old college big man to develop. Spending $$$ on one as a free agent would put the rebuild in high gear.

Maybe do both?

Unlikely that a team will trade you a good center because they are rare. And they don't go to free agency either; and if they do, you'll need to overpay. So the best way to try and find a center is with a high draft pick. If they're good, it won't take 3-4 years to develop them.

Or, if you want to sped up a rebuild, you could draft a guy with potential, then package him and other assets for an established big. Usually it would be an unhappy player or (like Utah) a logjam of some sort.
