IMO it is way too early to pass judgment on Kelly.
As for trading Rondo for Hibbert sounds too good to be true.
Playing Young in the D-League for now is not a bad idea. At this stage he has to keep scoring points and improve his D.
In short, I think you jump to conclusions too early, after only 14 games, give these guys some time.
sage advice, but arent we really asking cb to stop being cb with this request?  ;)

but to stay on topic, it was a good post by the OP. while i might differ on details, i would be willing to take the plunge and play the kids, record be [dang]ed.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Improve: Defense and outside shooting and establish an identity..

1. Trade the following: Olynk (for some shooting) Maybe Stauskas?   Olynk is clearly a 4 and will never be passable defensively. We need to go with him or Sullinger and Sullinger is more well rounded.  No pun intended!

2. Trade Rondo for a rim protector - Roy hibbert or Larry Sanders - sweeten the deal with a pick if needed.  Rondo isn't the right leader for this team and is a liability when not surrounded with closers and shooters.  Price to resign is too high and we won't be great for a couple more years and he won't have the patience for that.  He could easily hold Coach Stevens back from having free reign on this team.   Smart is a better point than 2 and is a far superior leader even at such a young age.

3. Get James young more minutes at the 3 behind green.   Later on will start and provide shooting and slashing at the 3.  Really like the spacing we would have down the line with Stauskas and Young on the wings.  Also, Stauskas has a good handle which would be good to pair with Smart.  Young and Stauskas are know to be a little cocky too which I think works very well with Smart and Sullinger.

4. Hire a defensive assistant coach.  We lost our defensive coordinator to the Suns ( forgot his name) but I see a huge drop off this season.  Stevens needs some support there.

5. Go Young this year and play with intensity and fire.  We still will lose but at least we'll have a direction.

Starters:
1. Smart
2. Stauskas
3. Green/ Young
4. Sullinger
5. Hibbert/Sanders  (prefer Sanders due to his mobility and lighter contract)

Bench:
Bradley, Young, Zeller, Thorton, Bass

This offseason we will have some cap space and some picks to add the right players who fit this new identity.  But we need to have an identity and a true leader who embodies that identity and that in my view is Smart with his intensity and will to win.

I'd watch this team right now as I feel the team is too disjointed and that Rondo is an anchor holding us back.  It would be better for Rondo to spend his prime on a team that matches his skills better.   He's been a great Celtic but it'd be best for both parties if he was moved..

Thoughts?

great stuff, best thing I have read in a while, i agree with everything you written.
