To be clear: everyone should be rooting FOR the Nets this year, then we root against them like last year again next year (I'm sure I could phrase that less awkwardly, but whatever).  The two big reasons are:

1.) They will get a worse draft pick for themselves in 2015, which likely will make their record worse in 2016 and 2018 (which we own) vs. being in the lottery and drafting a blue chipper

2.) They will foolishly reinvest in their garbage team when Brook is a huge injury risk and Joe Johnson and Deron Williams will be coming out of their primes.  If they lock up their cap with roll players, they will be really bad in 2016 and 2018, even though they will be optimistic

The Nets being a 4 seed would be really good for us

People act as if the Philly pick is just a "throw in" in a trade or not worth much. The Sixers are the worst team in the league so essentially those 2 picks are late first rounders. Thats not too bad.

I can see Brooklyn's pick being more valuable then our pick this year with Lopez and dWill's injury woes, Johnson is getting up there in age and KG? Lol,

As much as I would like the nets to just fall apart, I have a hard time believing that the C's will be better than them this year.

The nets actually really improved in the 2nd half of the season after Lopez went down with the injury.  Lopez has been cleared for play and should be ready for training camp.
In either case it won't really matter to the C's since we don't get their pick until the following year.  This year we need something bad to happen to the Clips and Cavs.

Blake and/ CP3 are due for a season-threatening injury.  Bron's been overdue for an ailment too.  could see Kyrie and Love missing some time.  No particular insight into why they'd be injured but would help the C's draft picks and would hurt 2 teams I want to see fail (Clips thanks to Doc and Cleveland because I can't stand Lebron)

The Cavs pick comes to us no earlier than 2016 according to RealGM, and is top-10 protected until 2019.

good to know - thanks.  guess I'll just be hoping for something bad to happen to the Cavs/Lebron just based on my usual general principles ;)

Exactly.

My personal dream scenario is for the Cavs  self proclaimed "king"to storm through the regular season and make the finals....then lose to the Spurs AGAIN.

Fixed. Ditto, by the way.

Their plan is to reload in 2016 via free agency.  They're not planning on taking on any long term money that compromises their books for the summer of that year.

My comment really wasn't about the draft pick aspect of it.  All I said was I think the Nets will have a better record than we will this year.
