It's hard to envision that Ainge will keep and give Rondo big money after using a #6 on Smart and re-signing Bradley to about 8M per. Maybe he does, but spending that much on 3 players that all have PG size and don't necessarily compliment each other offensively is hard to imagine.

I think Smart was brought in to start and take the reigns at PG where he can take advantage of his size against smaller 1's. Putting him at the 2 doesn't take advantage of his physical advantage and makes him play a lot more off the ball where his shot is still a question mark.
I'd disagree with that though. Ainge took Smart because he was the best player available. I don't think he'd had it in his mind before even seeing how well Rondo plays that he wouldn't pay him something close to the max. Bradley's contract is higher than most would like but probably market value; even if we don't know if another team was willing to pay that. Rondo and Bradley compliment each other on offense, how Smart fits and the position he's most effective at remains to be seen. I'm willing to bet he still gets a fair share of minutes at the 1 though.

So with Rondo playing about 35 mpg that would only leave Smart with 13 minutes at the 1. Not optimal for a player that that belongs at PG and should be the face of the franchise sooner rather than later.
So you're saying that we should trade Rondo, regardless of how well he's playing, because Smart should get as many minutes as possible, regardless of how well he's playing, because he's definitely the future of the franchise?

I'm saying that Smart is best suited for the PG spot and he needs as many minutes as possible there for his development. Hopefully Rondo does play well so that we can get a better return. Unless you think Smart was drafted to play exclusively as a 2 guard and Bradley was re-signed to be backup. I just don't buy that. I don't like the way Rondo and Smart compliment each other. Our spacing would be awful and we would suffer offensively because of it.
