That's not necessarily true. Guys like Barkley, Iverson, Howard, Vince Carter, even Durant to some extent were not leaders. Durant is on the opposite spectrum similar to Love he's elite but doesn't have that mean edge.
Also how do you know that? Going off stats the Mavs would probably be better with Love. Dirk is a more efficient scorer but other than that Love beats him in almost every category. Rebounds, assists, etc. Same with Duncan.
What about Melo and his great individual stat achievements. Where has that taken him?? He has had a really good supporting cast if you think about it. So yeah its not his fault either right?
Some players don't care to score 10 more points, or chuck 5 more shots to get out of a shooting slump or not to raise their hands to challenge a shot to pad their rebounding stats. They do alot of things that doesn't show up in the stats department to help their team win.
They are efficient and resourceful
Love on the other hand has shot avg 45 percent for his career. A PF that shoots at 45 percent, is that a good stat? On many many occasions he has given up on defending his man until the end of the play, rushing to get a potential rebound instead. Is this a good habit?? How will other players behave when your best player does this kind of crap?
Make fun of guys like Aaron Gordon all you want but he is going to challenge the shot without fouling from the start to the end of the play. He is not going to chuck the ball to get out of a slump and instead make the correct pass. Aaron Gordon won't be the scorer Love will ever will be but he plays the right way and he plays hard. If Love did as well on both ends + his skills, he would of made the playoffs by now.
Melo is a chucker and a ball hog and I dont want him on my team. I am in favor of pairing Marc Gasol with Love.
Anyways in melo's defense New York put the worst big three of all time around him. He played with the walking corpse of Amare Stoudemire who has killed their cap space and Tyson Chandler has struggled with injuries and has definitely lost a step. If he had a great point guard to set him up and a great center to rebound for him he could reach his potential. Yes Love is not a perfect player triboy. If he played great defense and improved his percentage he'd be the next Kevin McHale.
Also Aaron Gordon shoots 42% from the line. FORTY TWO PERCENT! That makes Shaq look like Ray Allen at the line. I am fairly confident I could shoot better at the line than him, no joke. Aaron Gordon could be a nice Tony Allen type player of the forward position. But I'm not waiting to 2017 for him to become a nice player.
Love is not perfect, he is not going to be the next Mchale or Lebron but why does he want to get paid like one?
Then wants to play with other players like him, the team will have a lack of depth , lose and he will complain about losing and want to get out again.
Currently he has a contract to fullfill. The Wolves might of screwed up their picks earlier in Loves career but recently tried hard to build a solid team. They signed Pek and Martin for example and they unfortunately got injured but Love and his greedy agent don't care.
Even Lebron didn't pull this crap and left when he had no more obligations to fulfill. I can understand if the Wolves didn't try or were on the road of tanking for a decent player to ask out, but thats not the case
