My choice would be to go after Patty Mills (offer a 4 year 20 million dollars). Comes from a great orgazination and has learned alot from a legendary coach.  He is ready to take the next step as a starting pg in the nba.

I like Bledsoe also and he looks like he has recovered better than Rondo has. But still i would have concerns regarding the health of his knee and will be expensive to steal away from the Suns.

Last resort would be to offer Sessions a 2 year 5-6 million/yr deal.

Ideally any Rondo trade would involve a player we could slot in at PG, or the Celtics would be picking a guy who would be the heir apparent at point guard.

If Houston is shedding salary, using our non-guaranteed contracts to take on Jeremy Lin couldn't hurt.

Otherwise, there will be some okay stop-gap options available for cheap.  Aaron Brooks.  Devin Harris.  Even Jerryd Bayless.

If Rondo is traded, I don't think the team will be in a position to go out of its way to try and shore up the point guard position right away.  The Celtics will be foregoing any urgency to win now and aiming to be good in a few years.  No need to rush.

My guess is if we  trade Rondo it means we have picked a point guard in the top ten (Exum/Smart).  If that is the case I don't think signing another PG is a big priority.  Maybe an older vet PG at league minimum.  Someone in the Keyon Dooling/Earl Watson mode.

If I am trading Rondo, that means I am blowing up the team and I wouldn't be handing out that kind of contract.

I'd be thinking long-term and scouting for guys who are at the point in their careers where Mills was 3-4 years ago.

I don't think it's really necessary for a rebuilding team to sign mediocre vets like Mills to long-term deals.  I'm guessing that cap space is going to play a big part of this rebuild, and the less flotsam we have clogging up the books, the better.

That being said, it wouldn't be the worst thing ever.  I'd just rather they didn't.

My top two choices of guys currently in the NBA would be Eric Bledsoe or Reggie Jackson. I think either of those two would be a great starting point guard, and both are young enough to grow with the rest of the young core we'd have.

Both probably aren't very easily attainable though.

Why would we go after Patty Mills??? If were trading Rondo we should be getting either a young star in the making, preferrably a PG.. Or we would be getting a high draft pick which we could then draft Exum/Smart... Even trading up and drafting Ennis would be better than Patty Mills... We dont need anymore average (at best) vets on this team... We need young talent..
