Why not Ray Allen-

2010 NBA Finals- Game 3, Game 4, Game 5, Game 6, and Game 7.
2012 Season- Got injured, started complaining about minutes and coming off the bench.
2012 Summer- Took his talents to South Beach
2013 NBA Finals- Game 6, 4th quarter. And also winning a ring with them.

IMO...Pierce, KG, and Tom Thibs led Celtics to #17.
You can make many of the same arguments about Kevin Garnett i.e. refusing to play center for a long time, clashing with young players, plenty of poor games (I mean that same 2010 Lakers finals you knock Allen for, Garnett only averaged 5.6 boards a game in the series and Rondo was the leading rebounder for the team), etc.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

The bottom line for me with Ray Allen is that he wasn't good enough while he was here to justify retiring his number on the strength of his play alone, and he wasn't here long enough to get his number retired because of his importance in the history of the franchise.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

To retire either #5 or #20 because they were very good, maybe even crucial to our banner #17, is insulting.

Lol @ this. "Maybe Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett were crucial to banner 17?" Jeez, ya think?

Anyway, I'm a no on Ray Allen but a yes on KG. Even though they played here about the same amount of time, KG's impact was far greater.
