I don't like calling it the "Miami Heat route," but I do like the idea of keeping Rondo and trying to put a talented, well-constructed roster around him.

I'm assuming that's Danny's plan.  Although, I don't think adding Rudy Gay and Josh Smith represents the best he can do.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

IMO, if the Celts could pick up a decent big in FA like Gortat or Hawes, and then use Sully as your 6th man, I think this could be a good team.

PG-Rondo
SG-Bradley
SF-Gay
PF-Smoove
C-Gortat

That's in addition to whoever we draft this year, Olynyk, Faverani, etc.

But, to each his own. After how poorly Detroit did this year, I can see why there would be some reluctance on Josh Smith.

acquiring josh smith and rudy gay would make us mediocre and put us in a treadmill of mediocrity forever.

At best.

Triple H looked over that roster and said it was a nice group of solid "B+ players."

Sorry, getting Gay and Smith as a way to go the "Miami Heat route" is just not right.

I'm all for getting Smith, as we can buy low on him as well as Asik, and then use them to lure Melo.

Rondo/Melo/Smith/KO/Asik is a good core to contend with.
