Instead of asking Rondo to adapt and fit in, we've given him free reign to inflate his stats and maximize our tankability.

I can't comment on how many games you see but Rondo's role in the offense isn't much different than it has been over the last 4-5 years.
That's a bingo.

Now you're gettin it, Tim.

Getting it in terms of realizing that "we've given him free reign to inflate his stats" was pretty much hogwash, that you wouldn't be able to come up with any stats to show any evidence of it and you're more than willing to move on to another argument, even if it disagrees with your previous claim, as long as it (in your opinion) puts Rondo in a negative light. That's a bingo.
Rondo's style of play goes against Stevens principles.  It's a stylistic mis-match.  Instead of asking ROndo to adapt and fit in, he's had free reign to play the same way he's played for the past 4-5 years.  That's resulted in a glorious amount of tank win.  The team has been better with Rondo sitting.   Had Rondo been forced to adapt, his stats would likely be down.  He needs the ball to rack up assists.  He isn't effective without the ball, because he's an offensive liability.   Asking Rondo to try and adapt this season (for the sake of winning) would have hurt his statistical output, hurt his trade value and likely added another layer of complication to Rondo's recoverly.  Better to just let him be same ol Rondo at the expense of wins... helps keep him statistically relevant for a potential draft day deal... helps us bottom out... helps him get back to being Rondo.

Could you please be more specific regarding the bolded bit?   In exactly WHAT way is Rondo 's style of play "against Stevens principles"?

Which principles exactly and could you please cite where you got that information from?

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

I'm not sure how many years Tommy has left in the booth, which will be a sad day when it comes to pass.

It will be very strange watching the Celtics win the first championship without Tommy Heinsohn as an employee, that's for sure.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I can't imagine watching the Celtics without tommy. this yr. with less of him may have been a contributing factor of why I watched less games for the first time in 25 yrs.

the guys they have gotten in there to replace him have been awful, particularly PJ Carliesimo. the only guy I would even consider from the bunch is chris herren.

but tommy is a fixture. replacing his knowledge and charming ridiculous homerism will be impossible to replace.

Good Post, Pho.

It has been a long, tough season, but I really believe that better days are ahead.

Based on my 33+ years being a Diehard Green, I just don't see ANYTHING as bad as The Lean Years for this team going forward.

It was absolutely TOUGH watching Bird, Chief and McHale in the late 80s...loosing to the Lakers on Magic's HOOK SHOT...of all things, right?

He shot that thing right over McHale and Chief, too....oh well.

A HOOK SHOT.

I/We survived that decline in the late 80s....we survived BIAS. We also survived the passing of the bright young star named Reggie Lewis:

We all knew how heralded Bias was, but Reggie was developing into something special.

We survived that.

We survived the coaching carousel....we survived the draft picks.

For me, I survived being a young Seaman in the U.S. Navy and having shipmates howl in laughter at me for being a Celtics Fan in the early 90's, LOL.

Those were trying times.

Now? With all of the clamoring about tanking and wondering about the future, I know for a fact BOS isn't going back to the Lean Years...we have much better days ahead.

Danny has made some tough decisions....ones that I couldn't/wouldn't make, admittedly. But I know he cares about BOS - he wore the Uni, after all.

Better days are ahead.

Like Pho mentioned - we have to be patient...maybe even endure one more season like this.

But it will get better....and we won't have any HOOK SHOTS to worry about this time. :)
