All this tanking talk and cheering for losses really makes me ill. If its going to be another full season next year of all you guys going to every thread just cheering for this team to suck because you have some misguided notion that this is going to lead to some 19 year old kid eventually being this team's savior, I think I'll have to retire from this blog.

Its just zero fun reading this crap.

Why? Is cheering for wins with a marginal roster, getting the 8th seed, getting possibly swept in the 1st rd, hoping your mid-teens draft choice, a 21 or 22 year old junior/senior is the savior, will get us to the 2nd rd the following year more fun? That's a sure fire recipe to remain virtually irrelevant for a decade.

We sucked the year before Cowens (36-46). We sucked the year  before Bird (29-53). We sucked the year before KG (24-58), which allowed us to trade for Allen. Surely you were happy with what happened immediately after, right? So I'd prefer to stay consistent and have history repeat itself.

I think he's tired of people cheering for losses and then berating the team for winning games. Just because they make the playoffs with a bad roster doesn't mean they'll be guaranteed to be irrelevant for a decade.

No but cheering for the team to win out is terrible for the teams future. All we need to do is lose 4 more to have the 3rd best chance at the #1. It also if I'm not mistaken assures the Celtics of a Top 6 pick.

What is the point in winning the last 4 games though?  Boston isn't going to make the playoffs even if it wins out, so what is the point in actually winning the games.  I can certainly get why people are upset about losing games in December, but it is April 10th and there will be no playoffs this year so what good is winning?
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

4 wins = short term satisfaction and long term grief due to poor draft position and continued mediocrity

4 losses = Not guaranteed but still the best shot at a top tier player for the future. Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, (Exum) or bust.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

BOLD PREDICTION:

It will be over soon enough.

dude there's a handful of games left and not one short term goal in site.  What exactly are we plaing for?

Pride and a chance finish season with a couple nice wins. They have a good chance of getting nice pick anyway.

oh stop with the hubris already.  That's gonna get us nothing but a lower pick which will cause more long term issues.  Some of the c fans need a reality check.  Were done.  We're past the playing for pride stage.  It's tank mode now.  If this team loses pride and develops a losing mentality in the last 4 games then we have bugger issues to deal with.

The tank is done, the Celtics will get a top ten pick. Looking at the schedule Orlando is not winning another game. It's not the end of the world if they end up the fourth worst record. Even if they tied with Orlando, they still have to do a coin flip and even then they might end up fourth. I just want end the season on a high note.

How is it terrible? You mean to tell me that cheering for the other team is beneficial?
