watching Comcast sports. Stevens said he spoke to Rondo before and after the incident . He was asked , do you think he should have stayed in LA ? Stevens answered , that's a great question .

He really didn't answer anything directly , but kind of hinted that he was annoyed .

It's not a huge deal IMO, but Rondo needs to get fined maybe 5K .

Still not exactly sure how it went down

Oh well.  In the long run this shouldn't matter.  If Rondo gets dealt, or doesn't want to re-sign, because he had a mini-tiff with his coach about taking a day off when he wasn't playing, then he probably wasn't staying anyway.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if some of Brad's vagueness comes from the fact that it wasn't his decision to sit Rondo.  I remember before the all-star break it being implied, if not explicitly stated, that Rondo would start playing back-to-backs on the other side of the All-Star game.  And yet, vs. Sacramento, a team who we're neck-and-neck with for draft position, he sits.

Interesting.  I was skeptical that Rondo openly defied the organization, but the "talked to him before the incident" stuff makes it sound like that's probably what happened.

That said, it's still tea-leave reading, which is never particularly reliable.

So Rondo scheduled a party in advance because he knew he wasn't playing back-to-backs and was peeved off when the Celtics told him he has to be with the team regardless? Oh boy...

Roy, but it's only logical. At the very least, If a player isn't on the team bus, headed for the airport, then I'm fairly certain someone from the club would attempt to contact him to check on their whereabouts.

Stevens was asked whether he felt Rondo should have been with his teammates in Sacramento. After saying moving forward is most important, the coach continued: "I think that obviously, it’s something that is a great question to ask. It’s something that I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about. But at the end of the day, I’ve passed that point.”

“All of that, we’re handling internally,” Stevens added. “We’ve sat down and talked. We did that Monday. In my mind, I’m moving forward. Then when (president of basketball operations) Danny (Ainge) gets back in town, they can meet and go from there.
