Boston could have 3peated in 08, 09, and 10. And then won another title in 2012.

They would be working on Banner 21 by now lol!

2 (General) reasons.

1. Luck. Any team winning the championship in a given year is going against some wavy odds. Skill only gets you so far. Sometimes the ball just doesn't drop like it could.

2. Injuries. KG's (and Leon's) injury in 2009, which carried over to 2010, where perk was injured in the finals, which leads me to 2011 with the most injury prone front court we've had, plus ray's bone spurs, Rondo's elbow dislocation, and a bunch of minor injuries.

2011-2013, the fact that we were in the playoffs, I view as awesome. We outlasted our expiration date. No sour milk, homes.

just one example to your 1st point, the Spurs had the title all wrapped up last year and Miami got lucky as the Spurs blew it.

I am so grateful that the C's were back on the map, I can't put any negative spin on it.  It was another great Celtics era -- we've had 4 while most teams have had 1 or none.

and we are in great position to build the 5th era

Legacies and narratives can be made by single plays, some of which are just loose balls or other random luck.  Just got a tough draw.

No matter what I think back very fondly on it.

For me, the two personnel issues I wish could have been resolved were another offensive player here or there and a big.  The bench was often patchwork with undersized bigs and wings that can defend and shoot decently but no one who could really run or create their own shots. David West really would have been so huge if that had happened.  But things were tight, just didn't happen for us.

KGs injury was just huge too, and unfortunate for him.  Still a great player afterwards and a total warrior but he wasn't the same athletically.

The Spurs should of won the NBA championship in game 6 last year but you know that one Ray Allen 3 changed the entire thing.

Moral is crap happens. Nothing is guaranteed. Championships are special

It's Monday morning quarterbacking, but watching the Clips today reminded me that Ainge had a promise to JR Giddens in the 2008 draft.  The smart move would have been to take a big man to groom behind Perkins.

If the Cs had taken DeAndre Jordan with that pick, things might have been a lot different.  They also passed on Nic Pekovic and Omer Asik,

We weathered the worst in 2011 right after the finals ended. The downest of downs.

The next championship we get will be that much sweeter after these close calls. :)

The fact that we even assembled that Big 3 was already extremely lucky, and that I was a huge Garnett fan (I had his wolves jersey and his and1 shoes) made things even sweeter. While I do wish that we could've won one more (game 7 in LA, in particular), it was a terrific ride nonetheless.

2008/09. Garnett and Powe out, we were 3-2 vs Magic...
If healthy 80% we win it all
2009/10. Perkins,we were 3-2 vs Fakers
If healthy in game 6 and 7 80% we win it all
2010/11. Rondo and Shaq, we were right here with Heat when Wade took care of Rondo's elbow
If healthy 50% we win it all
2011/12. Bradley, J. O'Neal,Green, Wilcox, we were 3-2 vs Heat
If healthy 50% we win it all

I strongly believe that if we have Chicago Bulls injury luck (1991-98 without injuries) we win 5 in a row.
In 2008/09 we were best team in basketball untill KG injury. In final vs Lakers healthy KG, Powe, Davis and Perk would neutralize Gasol, Bynum and Odom, Pierce, Ray and TA neutralize Kobe and Ariza and Rondo and Marbury destroy Fisher.
In 2009/10 we were a quarter of fair referring away from title. Without Perk. With him theres no way that Fakers grab that many OR and win
In 2010/11 Rondo, Ray, Pierce, KG and Shaq were best starting five in basketball. Solid bench with Green, Jermaine, Krstić, West, Davis, Murphy...With healthy Shaq and Rondo with BOTH arms we make LeBron cry... Even without Shaq and with one-armed Rondo we almost beat cHeat in g4 and g5.
In 2011/12. First David West fiasko. Then Green and Wilcox heart problems. Jermaine O'Neal wrist injury. Avery Bradley shoulder injury in playoff. With all that we were 3-2 vs cHeat in ECF. Super LeBron tied it, but we were in g7 when we have a freshnes. With Green, Bradley, O'Neal and Wilcox there's no way we lose this series.

I'm very happy for 2007/08 memories, but after that basketball gods wasn't on our side.
