Why Boston:
We get the center we need in Asik, get Hayward to play swing (Stevens connection, replacement for Green), and Singler (could use as a backup SF in case we find a taker for Wallace). It also gives us back 5 mil in cap space, and also helps us in the 2015 offseason to sign a free agent since Jeff's 9 mil won't be on the books.
Why Houston:
They get rid of Asik finally, and take in Marvin Williams who could be that 4 who can space the floor, and seconds as an expiring contract for flexibility.
Why Detroit:
They get away from Smith's insane contract, and get a decent SF who can space the floor and score in Green to go with Munroe/Drummond. They get Jefferson's expiring contract, and a backup big in Bass who can also space the floor. Although they take in an extra 3 mil, they still stay under the cap. If this experiment doesn't work, it'll be easier to trade either Green or Bass in the future as opposed to Smith's big money and longer length of contract.
Why Utah:
Utah pairs Derrick Favors with Josh Smith as their front court of the present/future. Charlie and Bogans function as expirings.
The trade of Charlie/RJ is for salary matching purposes.
Essentially our depth chart would become:
Rondo/Pressey
Bradley/Bayless/Johnson
Hayward/Wallace/Singler
Sullinger/Olynyk
Asik/Humphries/Faverani/Anthony
How does this sound? Seems pretty complicated, but I think it works for everyone involved.
