... hmm, after reading Woj's piece on Emeka Okafor's contract, I wonder if Phoenix might be in play for a Jeff Green trade... he'd easily be an upgrade over their incumbent small forwards and they've got a number of assets to offer the Celtics.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/why-emeka-okafor-is-key-trade-asset-for-suns-233443139.html

There's this bit:

Quote
The Suns have expressed a willingness to absorb a veteran player on a short-term deal who wouldn't compromise the organization's ample salary-cap space for the future, league sources said.

If Woj is correct, then Green may not be the ideal trade target for the Suns. They may look for someone with only two years remaining. (Bass?)

To follow that same line of thought, how about Hump and Bradley for Okafor and two firsts or for Okafor, Len and a first.

Or Hump and Green  for Okafor, Len and a first? Or Hump and Green for Okafor, filler and two firsts.

Hump sounds like the immediate veteran contributor and short term contract they should be drooling over.

I would think Hump would be real attractive to them.

Hump wouldn't sniff the court in Phoenix. They definitely aren't interested in him.

As LarBrd33 likes to say about Rondo, Jeff is for sure a top 100 NBA player at his position, maybe top 50.

So any return for him would be great... right?

Jeff IS our transition defense, he plays furthest from offensive rim, then he's the first one to defend his own basket.

Jeff doesn't rebound a lot, but thay might be due to the fact he's far from the offensive rim, and when he's defending the perimeter (most of the time) he isn't either in the best position to grab rebounds.

This season is about Tank-showcase-development, and Jeff is been asked to a different role from the typical SF (perimeter defense and run around picks offense, he's playing SG). Of course, what he should develop is his ballhandling, his weakest skill, but we shouldn't judge this season without that context.

Greg Monroe or Omer-Wilt-Kareem Asik will command more money and will produce less for the Celtics, but yeah, let's get rid of Jeff Green, he's a total bum... maybe a top 100 SF, just maybe.

Trade deadline can't come soon enough. Go Celtics!
