I think Smith is a better player than green strictly on ability but Smith's contract makes him less valuable than Green.

I think Smith is significantly better than Green.  My problem is that this team desperately needs a go-to scorer, and having Rondo and Smith locked up at big numbers could make it tough to find that guy.

Jeff Green might not carry your team, but he also won't actively kill it the way Smith will.  If you need a go-to scorer, you don't want Josh Smith.  I think Green knows he's not a #1 guy and won't force himself to be something he is not.  Smith thinks he can be "the man" and will shoot in an attempt to prove it.  The book on defending Smith has been to let him take open jumpers in the first quarter so that he keeps taking contested jumpers in the fourth quarter.

Josh Smith played one season where he only took seven threes, rumored to be because of a bet.  That was the one season when he was truly effective and the only time the Hawks won 50+ games while he was there.  The next season, he was back to his chucking ways.

He can be a good player, but he insists on taking enough bad shots to outweigh all the good things he does on the court.  If he were a Celtic, he'd be like a more frustrating Antoine Walker.

I can see Jeff Green being a key rotation player on a contender.  I can see Josh Smith sabotaging a team that has the talent to be a contender.

Bottom line: DO NOT WANT.

Josh Smith is largely taking catch and shoot 3s because he's being passed the ball and playing SF. His shot selection isn't good, but its especially "bad" this year because of his coach and the roster he's on.

Smith the enigma....as a power forward on a defensive minded running team he would be good for less money IF his shot selection could be controlled

Pierce got his shooting and team play worked out with doc.  Walker never did.  At this point in smiths career I don't think he ever will.

Smith , if he'd play at Greens contract level....otherwise better to invest the money elsewhere than a high dollar Smith contract

Neither one is worth Smiths money.

And the fact that he is determined to get his "appropriate" number of shots up.  The team would be better if he would swing the ball every once in a while and average a couple less points per game.

I think Smith at the 4 is a fantastic combination with Rondo.  I'd love to add Smith and keep Jeff Green at the 3.

Rondo/Bradley/Green/Smith is a fantastic grouping of athletes.  A tremendous defensive ensemble and a potent transition attack.

Here's a crazy idea, would you trade Wallace and Green for Smith/filler?

Now this is intriguing. I basically lambasted Smith in my post for being an overpaid low-BBIQ chucker but if I can move a $10M crier from our locker room I might take the lesser of two evils.

If they would take Green+Wallace for Smith+expiring I'd do that. I'd do it in a heartbeat. If they ask for a pick I'd say no.

There has been some fairly even dissent on this issue. I should have started a poll!

They'd also inspire more fear in the backboard than in opposing defenses.
