The nets aren't half way trying , the old guys won't turn it or play hard til they need to.    All the nets need to do is stay healthy and make the playoffs.

It's the beginning,  and all ready thy are being held out of games.

If Lopez is healthy ...they make a deep run .....without Lopez inside offense they aren't so good .

I'm not sure I can believe that Pierce and KG are coasting.  Father time catches up at some point.  Not sure if they can just turn it on whenever they want.  It will be interesting to see what happens.

So I am watching the Nets play, and you can already tell that their window has shut and was boarded up. Kidd is awful and absolutely does nothing, and the defense which was suppose to improve drastically is also quite appalling. So I start thinking to myself, there's going to be a firesale. Why Keep $190 million in salary when you are going nowhere.
This brings me to my ultimate point. Why don't the Celtics trade low for PP and KG? Aside from nostalgia, I am a realist and know that they are not going to make much of a difference to our team's hopes. However it would be an amazing sight to see KG and PP play on a nightly basis, and ride off in the sunlight at the end of the season. In the end, I think the experience would only help our player development, it won't hurt or help our draft destiny, allow us to get rid of some unsightly contracts, and allow us to watch my captain and anchor retire is GREEN.

Because the CBA mandates that teams must wait one year to reacquire players they have traded away.

And that rule is actually because of Danny Ainge, I believe.

Sam Cassell "wink-wink" trade with the Hawks, maybe?

I think it was Gary Payton for 'Toine with ATL: Sent Payton (and a first and pieces) to Atlanta for Employee #8, then re-signed The Glove like a week later, after the Hawks waived him.

I think that led to a 30-day moratorium, but then teams still got away with it (like Ilgauskus with Cleveland a few years back) so it got bumped to 90 days then a full year.

That was one of the last such transactions, but it had surely happened before.

Either way, the Nets are a curious case. They literally look to be falling apart at the seams.

Deron Williams, AJK47, and Joe Johnson need to bring a lot more to the table.

Danny did well to trade PP and KG and probably should have start this rebuilding project last year after we lost to My Hammy in the 7th game of the ECF.

I would not be opposed to bringing back PP on a veterans minimum next year however.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

You're probably right--my hoops GM knowledge generally circles around the teams I follow, so I didn't remember the situation with Big Z and Cleveland.

The play of PP and Garnett just shows that DA got a pretty good deal from the Nets when he made the trade. I'm a big fan of PP and Garnett like most, but I was happy DA make this trade.

Just think of there value today if they were on the Cs.

Maybe we can get some future draft picks to take them off their hands.

After three seasons of Nets talk...I still don't think the Nets are that good. That's what it comes down to. DWill and Johnson are extremely overrated and are just not going to be in a workable offense. They stall the ball too much. Lopez is good offensively but he is somewhat of a black hole too... Year and year again they just dont have the right fitting pieces to make things work.

I only remember that one because Cleveland was our big rival that year (maybe 2010?) and people here were very angry about the Cavs doing the same thing we'd done a few years prior.  They traded him to the Wizards to get Jamison I believe.

That wasn't the only case though - I know Stackhouse singlehandedly scuttled a trade before it went through by yapping about how he'd be back in a month.

Keith Van Horn rode in to save the day on that one though.

Yeah, that was the Kidd/Harris deal I think.  Van Horn got the Bogans Special for his contract - 3 year deal, 1 guaranteed, drastically overpaid to make salary work.
