Just got done watching the Nets/Kings game.  The trade made this off season to net us 3 #1 picks for KG, PP and Jet was an absolute heist! KG is at the end. Period. Paul and JJ cannot play together. It just doesn't work. Jason Kidd is CLUELESS as a coach.  This is working out a lot better than I thought it would. Net fans are HIGHLY upset, with many saying we got away with robbery. Some are calling the Nets last years Celtics.  D Will is definitely no Rondo. His game has regressed. He's gained weight and is not as quick as he was in his Utah days. Lopez is tall but soft as a pillow. Cousins was abusing him.  This quote from one of their fans on realgm says it all....

"Unfortunately, this team is the only option for us. We have by far the most expensive payroll in the league, with 1 completely immovable max contract. Our GM traded away all our draft picks, save one or two for the next EIGHT years. Our franchise player has yet to prove himself. KG looks terrible on both ends and JJ & Pierce don't work very well together. We're the slowest team in the league. For all our supposed high bball IQ, we've been consistently stupid. Kidd looks clueless out there, he's way too restrictive with our players' minutes, as if we've already earned a playoffs berth"

I'm happy with where we are now. Danny pulled the trigger at the absolute right time.  In 3 years this team is gonna be back fighting for #18, but in the meantime we will at least be entertaining and may even make the playoffs.  Keep losing Brooklyn! Thanks Mr. Millionaire for the picks. I just hope we use them wisely!

We should all think to ourselves, "It's a long season." until, say, Christmas.

Yeah... Brooklyn is still figuring it out and Deron Williams isn't 100%.  That team will probably win 50 games when all is said and done.  They'll click at some point and rattle off 10 in a row.  Way too much talent.

Sad part is... as bad as Brooklyn has been (4th worst record in the league) and as much as we lack in talent right now, if the season ended today we'd be swept in the first round of the playoffs by Indiana... and we'd end up with the #16 pick (our own) and #18 pick (Atlanta).   Real shame considering there is thought to be 3 phenom superstars and at least 4 other future all-stars at the very top of the draft.   Atlanta would get Brooklyn's pick... which (currently) has the 4th best odds and couldn't fall lower than #7.

Much ado about nothin, though... in a couple months we'll probably be towards the bottom of the standings, atlanta will probably be a borderline playoff team and Brooklyn will be a contender.

This year, we need to root for Atlanta and Brooklyn to both play horrible basketball.  Even if Brooklyn wins 50+ this year, I think those future picks will pay off for us.  KG and Pierce will be gone within a year or two.

Possibly. You'd need Deron to play a lot better and for KG to show the same kind of improvement that he showed during the strike season. I think that the team's definitely built more for the grind-it-out slower pace of the playoffs than they are for the regular season, where they might struggle on occasion against younger, athletic teams that push the pace. They should easily make the playoffs the way the east is looking but I think they're just as likely to just skate by as to dominate.

two thins come to mind:

1. Jason kidd is not doc rivers.....doc was awesome about managing superstars playing together, on and off the court

2. its mid November.....if they stay healthy, I think the nets will be fine once they build chemistry.

It is way too early to throw in the towel on Brooklyn.  I think they will be fine once they figure out how to play together.

That said, they have a billionaire owner that will throw whatever money around he can to always be competitive.  They also have Lopez and Williams (even in a lesser state) that could draw a lot of value in trades.  I mean don't you think Houston would trade Lin and Asik for Williams.  Asik would be great next to Lopez and Lin seems to be the high energy PG that team could use.  Trades like that will be out there and if they moved Lopez they could do even better.

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I also thought I read somewhere that Atlanta could look to move some of its assets by midseason.  If so that will help our chances of getting a higher pick.

I still don't think the Nets can be this bad forever.  But I guess if they are, I won't complain too much.

If Ainge were a NE Patriot he'd be fired long ago. That's an organization.

If Ainge were a NE Patriot he'd never have dumped Deon Branch during the season from a title contending team that was desperately in need of good wide receivers.

Yo - I watched the Nets game and it was a true embarrassment.

The KINGS of all teams, had a really easy time just droppin' jumpers on 'em all night. They were up 24 at one point.

I couldn't agree more that the Celts are set up well going forward and we got a great return for 3 aging studs that only have a year or two left.

The Nets will come around but they will also be hard to watch at times. Being old and slow in the NBA is a tough thing to pull off.

The Nets will not be this bad all year, that's for sure.

However, one thing I completely glossed over was KG playing PF.  I kind of just overlooked that and so far it looks really bad.  He just needs to be playing center.
