Now that we have seen a bit of these prospects, I am starting to get excited.  Not just because of their potential, but of their potential to be really good right away.  So, this has helped me to imagine a best case scenario where they can get back to being a contender quickly, while still playing for a longterm contender status.

Keep in mind that "best case" is a bit relative.  I know there could be better case scenarios, but this is the best case I could personally think of, that made very plausible sense, with a little luck, and some willing partners.

C's end up getting Parker in the draft.

Trade Kelly, maybe a future first, depending on the season he has, and their trade exception for Omer Asik.  This gives Houston a stretch 4 to play with Howard, and also a large trade exception of their own to add some depth.  For Boston, it gives them a defensive anchor inside to compliment Sully and Bass.

Trade Bogans, Jeff Green, and the Nets pick (depending on Greens and Gordon's season this year) for Eric Gordon.  Boston gets a SG who can really fill it up, while the Pelicans loosen up the logjam at guard, and fill a gaping hole at SF, while also saving some cash.

So here is your roster:

PG: Rondo, MLE, Pressey
SG: Gordon, Bradley
SF: Parker, Wallace
PF: Sully, Bass
C. Asik, Vitor

Suddenly, that is a VERY interesting team, and depending on just how good Parker is, they could be a contender pretty quickly.  They have scoring, distributors, shooters, defenders, bangers.  Pretty much everything you want.  And they even have two options as go-to scorers at the end of the game with Gordon and Parker, and Rondo to get them the ball.  And they would still have their MLE to bring in some depth, perhaps a backup PG (or maybe Pressey is that guy??), along with a lot of future draft picks to use in trades.  That is a team I could get excited about.  And I tend to think that is the type of situation Danny is absolutely drooling over.

I'm not trading Kelly Olynyk and a future first for Asik.

He's being way overvalued around some parts.

I don't know, I just think you're giving away too much value for either high risk or just not that good players.

I'm a fan of Gordon, but he has become an inefficient scorer.

For all the value you have going out, we're better off staying pat and looking for something better.

Thats the type of thing I was trying to figure out in my "Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson, Greg Monroe"  thread in the trade forum.

I thing a big like Asik or Monroe and a guard like Gordon could be had for a bargain.

I am hoping that Green, Sullinger, and Olynyk wouldnt have to be included, but I know thats gonna have to be the case.

Rondo  Pressey
Gordon Bradley
(1st round pick)  Wallace
(Green or Sully) Olynyk
Asik   Vitor

I would love to pry Ryan Anderson out of N.O.  I feel like they have to build around Tyreke, Jrue, and Davis and dont need to pay so much to Gordon and Anderson.  Both guys are 25 though, so they have good value.    Maybe Sully/Lee/Humphries plus a pick?  They have to dump salary somehow.

I like the idea of playing sub .500 ball all season, then at the trade deadline, make a couple of trades like this and get Rondo back on the court.  It will take a while for them to mesh and we wont make the playoffs.  Hopefully still get a top 10 pick.  Highly unlikely we get a top 4 pick, but I guess you never know.

But what happened to CBMVP Jordan "Steez" Crawford?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

He's a free agent.  It is certainly concievable he could be brought back.  Heck, Humphries could be back too.  But, to me, they were not significant enough pieces to work into the scenario.

That is the best case
and in order to do it we must... tank

also i agree Kelly can be traded, but JC must stay
