Quote from Jay Larranaga in a Chris Forsberg article.

"Phil is an aggressive defender,” he said.“I think when we got down, he took a few more risks and really disrupted their offense and allowed us to get back into the game in the first half and a little bit more of the same in the second half. That’s what his role is going to be with us during the regular season (if) he’s on the team. I think that’s good for him to show that he can be that defensive guy off the bench.” - Jay Larranaga

That sounds like a guy who has a really good shot at making this team as our backup point guard, especially when you consider the Celtics have known him since when his father coached here.

If you're going to be bad, makes more sense to have a young kid get some time at the point than bring in a vet right?

Your thoughts.

He has a decent shot so long as the Celtics don't have to waive a guaranteed contract, but if Rondo is ready at the start of the season, I suspect Ainge would prefer to try and stash Pressey in Maine as one of the last preseason cuts and tell him to work on his jumper.

Work on his shot?  He is a very good shooter.

I think he could become the backup PG.   Summer league was really difficult for him as he had zero chemistry and was playing with a lot of stiffs.   In camp he will be even better as he will get to know guys.   He may not make the team but I think his passing will be better.

He was a pleasant surprise and the thing is we barely saw his athletic ability.

LOOK!  Amazing.

That one bullet no look pass to the guy underneath the basket is vintage pressey. Havent seen him do one bounce pass yet though. His defense is great and he has a sweet stroke but needs to figure out when to shoot.

No bounce passes? Tommy will be livid.

It is going to depend on personnel moves, but unless Danny brings in a vet on a contract, I really think Pressey is going to get a chance to make the team as the backup PG. Knowing Danny, though, Phil is going to have to earn that spot..it's not going to be just given to him.

Please defend this claim using statistics.
