No, it's just not enough to offset being a complete liability in all aspects of the offensive game. Also, his defense this season became considerably less effective once the league figured out his shtick (it's not that hard, really, set a pick in the back court, and Bradley turns from an elite into a mostly irrelevant defender).

Will improve? No, may improve. Or he may also regress. No guarantees, especially with a player whose performance has fluctuated so much when taken out of the specific structure designed to hide his flaws.

He was an offensive liability playing the point, but I disagree with him being an offensive liability at the two.

The last part about improving is the fundamental difference in our opinions. I personally think that he has proved to be a hard worker both on the court and off the court which leads me to believe he will improve. However, you are 100% correct that he is not guaranteed to improve, but due to his age, athleticism and work ethic I have faith he will.

I will wager you 100 Tps that he does improve significantly on offense next year (if you are interested we can discuss what significantly improve means via PM)

That said, I think Bradley has the potential to be a starter - just not next to Rondo. I think Bradley paired with Steph Curry or Kyrie Irving - bigger PGs who are good offensively - would be great.

I like a Bradley-Rondo backcourt, but I think they would benefit from playing with a stretch-4 who can hit a three.

His offense at the 2 was limited to wide-open corner three pointers, and wide-open layups. These were only made possible because he was a fifth option on the offense with a dominant ball handler. Oh, and a couple of hall-of-famers.

You put him in a slightly different situation on the court, and suddenly his ability to make shots disappears -- even shots similar to the ones he made with regularity last season.

My point is that you can't game plan around Avery Bradley that much. If he's going to turn into a dud every time he's asked to step out of his comfort zone, it's going to be difficult to keep him on the floor, especially on a roster without Garnett and Pierce.

Bradley may have seen his 3p% go down from 2011-2012 to 2012-2013, but his shooting percentage on long twos 16 feet or longer went up from 39% to 44%.

I think there's enough there that you can still say Bradley has a decent shot at being that catch-and-shoot guy he was projected as being.  It's not crazy to think he might be a better jump shooter than Courtney Lee over the next few years.

No. You cant be a legit starting sg, that is great defensively but nothing consistent offensively. You also cant shoot around 400 , and remain a starter in the nba. Bradley has to get back to cutting to the basket again and like tommy said stop shooting threes.

When have we won a title without a SG that could shoot 3's?

I like point guards that run the point.

Shooting guards that can shoot.

Power forwards that play with power.

Pivotmen that play in the pivot.

It just works that way.  It's why the 2008 starting 5 played such beautiful basketball.  And 1986.

That's the model we should follow.  Bradley doesn't quite fit as a starter, but is a perfect 3rd guard with his championship-level game-7 defense, play after play.

Avery Bradley "can" play the off guard - but his size will be limiting.

That being said, I am not against him playing the two. I think his D but even if his offense improved dramatically I have concerns about his body holding up long term.

If the team chooses to start him long term at the two - I'd be Ok with that as long as we bring in a biggish, physical sharp shooting back up.

I just see one of the most important jobs for a two is to spread the floor. Ideally I'd like my two to make other teams nervous to leave him alone rather than to dare him to shoot it...
