If that Cavs offer is on the table, it's going to be hard to pass it up.  Even if it just nets us a 2nd rounder, that trade exception could net us Josh Smith... or at the very least it will get us closer to a tank job.

My guess is Danny pulls the trigger on the Cavs offer sometime between picks 1-14 unless someone outbids the Cavs.

The reports are that the Cavs want Sergey Karasev and don't think he will be around at #19, so I wouldn't be shocked if the Cavs are working on Pierce and #16 for #19, two seconds, and maybe a 2014 second, contingent upon Karasev still being there at 16.  They've also been reported as talking to the Mavs for that purpose, so it probably depends on how the draft is going.

A lot of these draft day negotiations are contingencies, based on who may or may not be available at a certain slot.

Dude u serious? For 3 spots , 2 near 1st and 2014 2st?

It will b 16 for 19 and 33. Thts all

I'm suggesting Pierce for the two seconds and a trade exception, as rumored, and tacking on #16 for #19 and one of the three 2014 second round picks that Cleveland has.  You can either see them as separate transactions or one big deal.

That Cleveland is strongly interested suggests they really want a shooter, someone who can catch-and-shoot all over the floor, not necessarily a high-usage volume scorer.

Taking Pierce as a stop-gap while 19-year-old Karasev matures would make some sense to Cleveland.

I'm sticking with what I wrote in a similar thread a few days back:

No trades tonight for Boston. Boston picks a PG at #16. Probably Schroeder, but maybe Larkin. Everyone keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop.... and it doesn't. The night ends.
Celtics fan for life.

I predict Pierce and KG are in Cleveland by nights end.

That thought of pairing them with Irving & Waiters too much for Comic Dans to resist, and this BKN non sense provides the urgency to get it done...

Given what a lackluster draft everyone is saying it is. I actually think some crazy things will happen, just because the GM's are bored.

Still think there are some decent bigs and sg's in this draft. Porter will be an decent player and there are several interesting prospects that could be worth a gamble on.

What contract along with a trade exception do we get back. Would KG really waive his no trade to play in Cleveland...

More importantly, since this is a bold predictions thread, what if we were able to trade Pierce KG and the 16th for the 1st, a player or two, TE, a second this year and a second next year.

PP,KG,16th
   For
Varejo,Gee,TE,19th,31,33

Works money wise. They get PP to mentor their new SF, they have KG to mentor their new C in either Noel or Len

Celts get Side Show, people been wanting a way to get him. Hopefully stay healthy. Use 19th for a Center to develop. 31 and 33 for a PG and SG. Gee would be a good back up to Green and the TE to go get Smith.

Rondo
Bradley
Green
Smith
Varejo

Maybe make a move for a better spot up shooter at the 2 spot and thats a good start to the rebuild.

And I like this better than the Nets deal...
