The Clippers will be good for a few years with the group they have.  Boston had to take a step backwards in order to hopefully take 10 steps forward in the next few seasons.  Running in place, if you will, just wasn't going to cut it.  We were turning into the Atlanta Hawks in a sense.  Worst place to be.

Everyone knew this day of rebuilding was going to happen at some point.  It won't be so bad.  DA doesn't want to go through another 22 year drought and his goal is to get this team back to legitimacy as quickly as possible.  I think it will take a few seasons, but it'll be worth it in the end.  The ownership group cares about the product they put out there and they do want to win, but we are back to square 1 and just have to be patient.  We'll get another 1-2 punch or another big 3, at some point.  It won't be a long time before the Celtics become contenders again.  We have the pieces and groundwork laid.  Just have to keep acquiring as many assets as we can, until those 1 or 2 big trades can go down.

I trust Ainge will look down all avenues and pull the trigger when the time is right.

the Clippers even with both current rosters intact are a better team. They won 56games last year...the C's were at under 50% with their roster

Well said and yeah I'll piggy back what you said you're right. I'm sure Ainge looked at the Pacers and Heat as well as the Bulls and thought we NEED to get better currently as constructed is not going to cut it. He's thinking by the time other contenders maybe break up and implode, well be ready fully loaded again in 2-3 years.

Thanks Doc for bringing the Celtics down.

It signals the fact that the Celtics just got a first round pick for a guy who never takes a shot during the season.

This isn't a signal of anything.  Every team ideally goes through period where they contend, and periods where they rebuild.  They want to contend right now.  We just closed our window and now need to rebuild.  There's nothing more to it.
