Before really thinking about, my initial thought of getting Al Jefferson this offseason: LOL.
However, after pondificating a little bit, I think it might be feasible. Even though Utah is almost assuredly gonna lose the dude this offseason - you don't give up nothing to get a significant something (unless you're the Lakers.)
Something like Crawford, Fab, Lee, Bass + first this year. Combined salaries going out: About 13.
Al Jefferson could be signed and traded here over the cap I'm pretty sure, so Boston could pay to his market of probably 14-15 mil a year. However, Big Al could sign a cap friendlier deal at around 10-11 million per year, or backload the last couple years of the contract to leave some leeway in the KG years of the contract allowing us to fill out the roster and still get his money.
The obvious hope for this trade is not to give up too many assets that help you win next year. Utah could screw up this whole thing by wanting Bradley, but since they are probably going to lose Al Jefferson anyway, they would hopefully take my proposed deal. Lee and Bass can be used as expirings later on if they dont project into anything. Crawford could still turn into a good, consistent scoring wing. Fab Melo as a project big off the bench, and our first.
Next years roster with AB still on the team:
PG: Rondo - TWill - Barbosa
SG: Bradley - Terry - Barbosa
SF: Green - Pierce
PF: Garnett - Sully - Green
C: Jefferson - FA - Garnett
