Marc Gasol Defensive player of the year

I like Marc Gasol's combination of intelligence and athleticism more than I like DeAndre Jordan's.

That feels like comparing Paul Pierce and Gerald Green or some other absurd comparison.

I don't think anyone would prefer Jordan to Gasol

I'd probably prefer drafting a center who is described as a poor man's Marc Gasol rather than a guy described as the next DeAndre Jordan.

I'm shocked. I know that Gasol is a good player, but I had no idea that he was that good a defensive player. Granted, I've seen few Memphis games ever, but I thought I had a pretty good idea of who the best defensive players were—Howard, Bradley, Tony Allen, etc. But good for him, and I learned something today.

Well, Gasol got it a bit by default due to several players missing good chunks of the season with injury.  There are probably a few players who might have won the award if they had played 80 healthy games rather than 50-60 gimpy ones.
