Wilcox/Darko/Garnett/Sully

If they go small ball, all their non-LeBron/Wade wing players are old spot up shooters that our big can cover.

On the flip side, who defends Wilcox/Darko/Garnett? Bosh defends one, how about the other?

Put in Haslem? Pick your poison. Wilcox is bigger and more athletic. Darko is way bigger. Garnett will kill him.

I'm sure nightmares of stopping Darko and Wilcox keeps Spoelstra up at night...

lol

It's not so much of them scoring, but think of other things their size brings such as setting screens, boxing out, keeping balls alive, second chance opportunities, etc.

They can counter our crappy size with their crappy size (Justin Hamilton, Josh Harrellson, Dexter Pittman, Joel Anthony)

Doubt Miami is worried about Boston.  They got better... and they still have King James. They beat us two years in a row and our two best players just keep getting older.

Well, if they aren't worried about the Celtics, then I assume they aren't worried about anyone.  I hope the Heat are taking that self-satisfied, overconfident attitude.  If they are, they may be ripe to be surprised by a hungry team playing with a chip on their shoulder come playoff time.

And, by the way, the fact that Rondo keeps getting older is a positive, seeing as he hasn't even reached his prime basketball playing years yet.

By two best players I mean KG and Pierce.  Anyhow... If the Heat are worried about anyone... it's the Lakers and Thunder.  They should be worried about a healthy Bulls team too... they would have beat them last year with a healthy Rose.

You think Pierce and KG are both going to be better than Rondo during the 2012-2013 season, yet you don't consider the Celtics to be serious contenders?

That doesn't add up.  I would say that a fairly objective view would have Rajon Rondo around a top 15 (maybe conservatively top 20) player in the league.  If both Pierce and Garnett are better, that means we have 3 players on our team who are no worse than top 20 NBA players.  Add to that the best bench and most depth we've had in years, and you don't think this team should be taken seriously?

That just doesn't make sense.

1. They have Lebron James.

That is all.

Haha yeah you don't have to coach much when you have that guy. Throw in a proficient scorer at SG and a competent pick&pop big guy and you just sort of let them go. "Hey I have an idea, let's let Lebron play all 5 positions!" Genius.

I think we'll do a better job containing James this season. Pierce is one of the best guys at slowing him down but Green will come in very handy when Pierce needs to score more. The coolest thing about Jeff Green is that he can sort of...do whatever Paul isn't doing. If Pierce is scoring then Jeff can handle the defense or rebounding efforts. If Pierce is having an off-shooting night then he can focus on dirty work while Green plays to score. It's one of the big reasons I think giving him 9M/yr was a good call. Batum got 12M this year, Gerald Wallace got 9.7M, and Danny Granger and Luol Deng make 13M each so...I think Green is very competitive priced, especially because we could sign him over the cap.

I think you're going to see Miami struggle with injuries this season. Bosh and Wade have both come off of injury plagued season and they brought in a couple of old guys in Allen and Lewis. Miller and Battier are both in their 30s and Miller cannot stay healthy at all. I really think they will struggle with depth this season. We saw how vulnerable they were without Bosh. To me that is the best thing about this Celtics team. I truly believe that any one of our players can go down and we're still in the mix to make conference finals. Call me a homer but I really think we have a better chance to win this year than Miami does.
