Jeff Green's career high in assists is 2.0 per game. In college, his career high was 3.3 per game. His turnover rate is approximately 150% of his assist rate over his career.
Asking Green to be a primary ball-handler or facilitator would be a very poor decision in my mind.
Well, I would argue that assists does not equal a good passer (in fact, we have argued this before). But ultimately, I don't think you are THAT far off. I think Green is a much better (and smarter) passer than those stats suggest. But he is not by any means a point forward.
I think he is the type of guy who understands how to move the ball, and who can pass out of doubles. But he is more the type who will pass within the offense, than a real shot creator with his passes.
edit: and I will also say, from what I have seen of Green throughout his career, the turnovers don't come from bad passes very often. He is generally, a very careful passer. They come from trying to do too much off the dribble, which is NOT his forte.
Of course, that also does not make a great argument for him to be a point forward.
