Bass Lee and Terry are not going to be traded.

While it might beneficial now, it would set us back as free agent players.  We finally appear to have made a step forward and then no one would come here as a FA for another 50 years.

I'm not seeing a significant trade unless we have a losing record and major career ending injuries.

I dont think the Celtics are on the same level as the Lakers, Thunder, or Heat as far as talent. If we get Josh Smith we will be on that level. Danny should try to get him.

We have something those three teams don't: Versatility. We have plenty of options and lineups to go to. They have to rely on their star players to get the job done. We saw the Celtics give the Heat a great series even when they had 2/3 of their team. Sacrificing that versatility for Smith wouldn't be the best move if you ask me.

I would put the Spurs on that short list as well for the same reason. The difference between them and us is that we are younger and have better defensive options.

This is the best team I've seen due to depth.  The mid-80's team had the best 6 players, but the drop off was pretty steep.

The current team is stacked.  I play JET at backup PG, and it all works:

Rondo/JET
Bradley/Lee
Pierce/Green
Bass/Sully/Wilcox-in whatever order you like
KG/Darko/Collins

with Melo, Joseph, and possibly Christmas in the D-league on reserve.

That's 3 allstars starting, two 6th-man candidates in JET and Green, solid defense and plenty of matchup options to maximize the talent of all concerned, with Doc running the show.

We're pretty well put together as we are.  No need to fool with THIS!

Yes, but those subs were pretty forgettable role players.  They could have been anybody.

The current subs are pretty well something.  I think JET and Green can really stand out as starter-talents as a second unit, and it's also a situation where Darko and Sully can thrive in solid but limited roles as well.

It all comes down to Pierce and KG, though.  They have to be present-day all stars for this to work, and Pierce's star may be fading, like KG's, on the offensive end.

There's no question the talent is there around them, but can Pierce still be the close-out scorer?  We're going to need a few throw-back games from Pierce this year.  If Green can keep him fresh enough to do that every now and then, then he's a bargain at $9M per.
