since we're so deep now i think we should play a much higher possession game while still keeping our defensive principles and schemes. i would like to see us average at least a 100.ppg

Wasn't there only like 1 team that avg 100+ last season?

Our possessions may got up a little but not crazy

No.  Play top defense.  Control the pace.

i understand you man but the reason im saying that is cause a lot of times we struggle to score for example in the philly series for like two or three games we only scored like 75 points or so

That's an efficiency issue, not a pace issue.

Plus, the Celtics only scored 75 in one game against the 76ers.

more possessions or not this team for long stretches struggled to put the ball in the hole, we now have an actual bench that should help with that.

I dont know, C are known for its D. I would not care if we score 50 as long as we are winning games.

I've always thought that efficiency and pace are more closely related than the folks who make those points per possession numbers would have us believe.

Personally, I'm torn on the pace issue.  Part of me would really like to see the Celtics play more of an uptempo game where they get up and down the floor faster and get more shots up.  I think this could suit a Rondo led team well.  It certainly appears that he has more horses to run with him than he's had in the past.  Also, hopefully the depth can help the older guys like Garnett, Pierce, and Terry stay fresh enough that they can keep the pace.

On the other hand, I think that our defense benefits from the fact that we play the game at a controlled pace offensively.  The half court style and the willingness to have the patience to work the shot clock can help to slow down high scoring teams and get them into a pace that they are uncomfortable with.  The Celtics usually give themselves a chance to win what they like to refer to as the "grind it out" games.

They do seem to be primed to try to speed it up a bit this year.  It will be interesting to see if they can manage to do that and still maintain the defensive numbers we've grown accustomed to seeing from this team.  If they can do that, then I think they could be really good.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Have we improved defensively?

You have to give Courtney Lee the credit for being an above average defender at the very least.

Brandon Bass improved dramatically in the system (a point a bit overlooked).

Jeff Green is better than nothing behind Pierce.

Chris Wilcox is an underrated addition in my opinion. I think his mobility may mean he's a better defender than Stiemsma (I can't say for sure though, he did have a foot injury. We'll see).

Maybe we'll force more possessions?

At the very least our defense got better, which is a scary thought.

Control the pace doesn't mean play slow either. Doc wants to run, it's a matter of just going out and doing it. We're at our best when Rondo is pushing the pace.

Didn't our possessions go up a decent amount when AB was starting? I think with him, Lee and terry and then you add Green and Wilcox and our possessions will go up.

But in the end we aren't going to change who we are completely
