I don't know if Amare is as poor a shooter as you're suggesting. I mean he hasn't shot as well since being injured obviously but he shot 44% classified as jumpshots in 2008-09 with Nash, in 2010-11 (when playing center as you suggested) he shot 39% from jump shot range. As a comparison in 08-09 Nowitzki shot 47% on the same shots. I do know that Amare's shooting was horrid last year and he wasn't above 35%.
He doesn't need to shoot for the pick and roll to be effective, if he's healthy and can effectively attack the basket off the pass back from the point guard, he forces a double from the strong side and Novak and the bombers will be very happy.
I don't know if Chandler being in the middle will really determine the outcome of the pick n roll effectiveness of Lin + Amare as much as Amare's injury/mobility status will.
Again, it's just my opinion, and we shall see.
