lets be honest, while danny almost did trade ray to memphis(which in hindsight wouldve been a good deal)

its not like Ray allen was the only player being dangled in trade deals

Paul pierce was nearly traded to the Nets for a lottery pick and was dangled as lately as the draft

Rajon Rondo was AGGRESSIVELY shopped and nearly traded for Chris paul before the season started.

so, I really dont think its a valid argument to defend ray because at the trade deadline, EVERYONE WAS BEING SHOPPED...the c's looked like a team that wouldnt make the playoffs and danny was ready to blow it up.

It's not like it's been one time. Danny has shopped Ray Allen for years.

Neither Paul or Rajon are free agents. Who knows what they'd do this offseason if either of them had been. You're telling me you don't think those two are mad at Danny for trying to trade them?

It's a reason. And it's legitimate .

I'm not happy about it however.

hes also shopped Rondo just as much. for westbrook, cp3, gasol..

he even offered ray a no trade clause(where only 2 players in the league have it) and still wasnt enough for ray

I dont think its a valid argument as to why Ray left.

Lets see what happens when Rondo is a FA again before we go too far with all this.

And the damage was down by Danny. I'm not saying what Danny did was wrong in trying to trade Allen this year. But would you come back to work for a boss you don't like much anymore? Would you really do it?

Danny's job is watch after the team first.  He saw Ray was hurt and hurtin the teams chances, and it appeared to him ray wasn't going to be any help in the forseeable future , being old and needing more surgery. Alot of money tied up in somebody that can help the team win and is struggling.  It was mid season and He did his duty to the organization to try and improve the Celtics chances , by moving Ray.  An unpoplar task , but one that is his call to make.

If Ray was 25 years old...then it was another matter, but Danny thought it was the right think to do at the time, instead of sitting on his hands and watching us lose.

Ray should know by now , NBA is business, and not took it personal , surely he has got to realize this at 37.

I think , the BEST thing would have to let the deal go though , make the trade , better or worse, then it would done and this long drawn out scene with him leaving ugly wouldn't have unfolded.  It would have been better off to done the trade.

Why was it stopped?  ???

Ainge does is job darn well. Ray isn't new to the league, he knows what GM's do. So if he's using that excuse, then he's not as proffesional as we all thought. Ainge wasn't trading him for peanuts. As Larry said, Ainge must not be trying hard to trade him if he's asking for Tyler Hansborough  & a 1st rounder
