do any of you even watch college ball? syracuse was #1 because of this kid. Put him under the mentorship of KG, and the skys the limit.
I'll take your word for it.  I wanted a 7 footer with potential for KG to mentor... I guess this guy fits.  BUt is he athletic?  As someone who knows nothing about College basketball, I wanted Perry Jones, mainly because I read he was 6'11 and had crazy athleticism.

I think he's pretty athletic, but probably not elite. Definitely a strong, strong dude though.

Had only 9 reps at 185

To be fair, Drummond had 10 and most of the prospects were around there. The longer your arms, the harder it is to benchpress. Meyers Leonard and Tyler Zeller were far and away the "strongest" big men via the benchpress, and they don't seem as sturdy to me as Melo or Sullinger (also 9).

Also - Rivers had 1? Really? Come on, dude.

I have seen posted many times that Dwight Howard had only 7... so take it with a grain of salt.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

the big knock on Melo is that he's lazy. Rivers said the celtics are going to teach him how to work.

Melo lost MAJOR weight over the past year.
And he's worked hard on his game as well
while I don't like the pick, he does have upside, and a good work ethic

Agreed. He is improving and is a professional. If he can become like a poor man Tyson chandler I will happy for a long time. Still bum ou about losing out o. White. We prob could of had him if we gave up both of our pick. Looks like though Danny was really set on drafting Melo at 22

I don't get the lazy tag on Melo. Is it because of his academic problems?

The kid improved from last year, lost 35 pounds and looked more better conditioning wise. That says hardworking to me. I don't know where the lazy thing is coming from.

No one was saving that clown. Didn't he reportedly get into it with KG?

I'm trying to stay optomistic with Melo.  Like others said though he could be Thabeet IMO, he really could.

The whole Syracuse zone system complicates things for me.  Did that make him look better than he is on D?  Is that why he didn't really board?

I think he is lazy but you're right about the 2nd year improvement that gives me some hope.

I've heard that he's lazy but with how much better he got after his freshman year it had to take work. He lost 30 lbs, and improved his jump shot a lot. That doesn't happen without work.
