we now know that the Celtics like the idea of bringing a Vet Combo guard to help for Point guard duty and also provide some min at the 2 (S Cassel, E House, D West, K Dooling, etc..).
I am expecting them to go that route again if KG comes back and we are not in a full blown rebuilding process!
Scanning the free agent market I would hope we go after one of these two Combo guards:

J Crawford :

Can handle the point and provide high profile scoring!
Great Jump shooter that can put up a lot of points.
Passing ability ??? Defense ???

A Miller :

Very good point gurad skills. Great size. Post up shorter point guards. good passer and finish well in the paint with short Jumpers or floaters...
Athleticism ??? Defense ??? 3-pt shoot ???

Which one do you guys prefer if the choice was reduce to the two of them..?

I personally would love to add the post up ability of A Miller...

I'd rather see the available moneys spent on a big man than a backup guard.

I understand Bigs are the priority for the Celtics.
But focusing on it and neglecting to find a good alternative for Rondo to avoid having him play 48 min each night is a mistake!
I think POST UP plays are very important and we do need some to diversify our offensive arsenal! Post up bigs or post ups combo guard, whatever works but we do need some post up players! Too much jump shooting in this team!
I recommand A. Miller from free agency and A Nicholson from the draft!

I brought this up awhile ago but what about Jason Kidd? We saw how great of an influence Dooling was on Rondo, why not have one of the greats and someone who actually compares well to Rondo in terms of skill-set? Kidd can guard the 1 and the 2 and can run the offense efficiently when Rondo is out. This is all assuming we bring the band back together for another run of course.

After the wife beater chants in the ECF in 2002 , I really doubt Kidd wants to come to Boston

Plus no more old men please we need youth/athleticism and shooting out of our backup guards next year

How is it that nobody has yet realized that Jamal Crawford is TERRIBLE?

And I don't mean he's bad because his contract sucks, or anything like that. He's just a very bad basketball player, period. I wouldn't want him on my team if I could have him for free.

Last year he shots 38% from the field. His career average is nearly as bad at 40%. He's also terrible at everything else, including rebounding, passing, and defense. In fact, this guy doesn't have a single above-average skill.

His wins produced per 48 last year was .021 (for comparison's sake, the average shooting guard's WP48 was .99). For further comparison, Ray's WP48 was .187

He sucks at everything, including scoring because he can't do it efficiently, yet dumb-as-rocks GM's still want to pay him because they only look at the total number of points he scores. It's almost comical that these guys are getting paid for that kind of insight.

Bottom line: he's the Glen Davis of shooting guards.
