Lol @ the timing.

I'd be p---ed too if my team got moved and turned into a championship contender full of 23 year olds.

I live here in Seattle.  The good news for them is that they finally have a legit arena proposal.  Essentially it boils down to this... As soon as they get a team, the city agrees to build a new arena.  That's a long way from where they were when the team left.  They have a huge investment group that is willing to put up half the funds to build the arena and the other half will come from taxes they earn from the arena itself.

Presumably as soon as the group buys a team, it will relocate to Seattle and temporarily play at Key Arena (still a fine venue) until the new arena is built.

Only problem is... who knows when they will ever be able to get a team.  Who are the candidates?  The Hornets aren't moving (that would be my dream scenario as a Seattleite... ANthony Davis could have potentially helped to make people forget a bit about losing Durant)...  Memphis supposedly has an impossible lease to break... Bobcats probably aren't going anywhere.   Is Sacramento in play still?

Thought I read somewhere yesterday that the league owners would veto any attempt by the Kings to move to Anaheim from Sacramento. No clue if that veto would also apply to moving them elsewhere.

Edit: here's what I read:

That Memphis lease isn't impossible to break, it just reportedly carries some stiff penalties. But, if you're a billionaire owner with money to burn, and the move could potentially be a financial gain (bigger market), then paying those penalties might not be such a deterrent.

Get over it!

If the Celts moved (I know, it's never going to happen) I'd bet that you (all of us for that matter) would be pretty p----- off too.

It would be so bizarre if the Vancouver Grizzlies became the Seattle Supersonics.  If you had a time machine and went back to the late 90's telling people that, I'm not sure they'd understand what you were talking about.

I hope Seattle is able to keep Sonics history if/when they get a team (if they got Grizzlies history, they could just discard it).

Get over it!

Seriously dude. If you don't care about the topic, ignore it and move on. There's a ton of people, both fans in Seattle and Fans across the NBA that want to see that city have a team again. Myself included. That city is too passionate not to have their Supersonics and I'll be rooting for them, at least until they get another team.

We as Celtic fans can't relate, but it's a travesty for the NBA to not operate in Seattle.

Admirable effort but too late, OKC is not giving up that team nowadays.  What you get is an expansion team named the Sonics in all probability.  You had your chance and where was all the pressure when the league was making it's demands.  I abhor that the league moved the team.  I feel sympathy for you Sonics fans.   But greed trumps rallies most of the time.
