Some dumb fouls aside, I think you guys should give the man credit for his defense.  Offense has been seriously lacking but on D he has given a ton of effort and really disrupted LeBron and Wade both.

He also seemed to be at blame for Lebron's uncontested 3.

I'm pretty sure that was Rondo who didn't rotate over to LeBron after the screen.

Just rewatched the LeBron 3 and MP was on LBJ, LBJ set the screen, then MP helped over to Wade.  He seemed pretty certain of it and Rondo tried to get back to LeBron.  Not sure if they were supposed to switch or what.  I figure they are when LeBron is setting a ball screen for Wade.   I think I remember them switching at the end of the game.

Either way, Pietrus still played good D.  I don't want to give anyone open 3's but it was one play and any shot LeBron takes that far away from the rim is usually okay in my book.  He just made it.  Hats off.

I'll give Mikeal Pietrus the Glen MacDonald award for back-up players coming and performing in the clutch having to replace fouled out stars.

(Glen MacDonald scored six critical points in Game Five of the 1976 NBA Finals in the 3rd OT after Havlicek fouled out).

Those offensive boards were great. His dumb fouls were horrible.

Yea those rebounds made up for all the stupid fouls he committed.

There is a definite give and take for his energy.  He commits some crazy bad fouls.  And there was that uncontested rebounded that went off his hands too.

Love the energy though.

Aren't you talking about Quis with the missed rebound?  I know he definitely did that in OT and I don't remember MP making that mistake.

Also noteworthy was that Ray Allen shot in the corner off the broken play (it was in the 1st half I believe, but it was kind of a blur).  That was one of the more impressive threes I've ever seen him hit.  He rose up and fired without a guide hand like it was late in the shot clock but it wasn't at all and he did the stare at your hands celebration afteward, which was apt.

Last few games he has had his legs back in on his shots which was great to see.

I was cheering so hard when he got two straight offensive boards. You can tell at that point he really wants to win. Like "We can't let them have the ball!!!". That's 3 possessions right there!, that took so much time off the clock.

Pietrus is underachieving in he playoffs. He committed stupid fouls, and really played poorly all game long, but something clicked and he started playing great D, got some big offensive rebounds.
I expected and still do a whole lot more from this guy... we sure need him

Not a great game for him overall (some awful, stupid fouls) but he came through when we needed him, so it's a wash.
