IndeedProceed... I'm not sure why Abbey Elliot is still on the show, actually. All she seems capable of doing is a modified baby voice. But yeah she's started to improve slightly. I'll give her credit as being arguably the cutest SNL cast member ever (think about it). I think there's a chance she might leave the show soon... I've heard she has a TV pilot that might get picked up. Honestly, I have to wonder if her dad (Chris Elliot) is just close friends with Lorne Michaels or something ... or maybe it's the fact that Fred Armison (21 years her senior) was bopping her after he divorced Peggy from "Mad Men".
I've wondered how much pull her dad or her thing with fred armison carried to her getting on the show before as well. I think she can do the 'straight man' thing pretty well now, whether its a tv host or newsperson, whatever, which frees up Bayer to do the fun stuff.
They're really gonna miss Wiig though. I think Sudekis is gone as well.
She would have been about 7 years old when her dad was a cast member on SNL... maybe Lorne just has a soft spot for her.
But yes... I think in general the females on the show now (Bayer, Nasim Pedrad, Abby) are some of the least annoying female cast members they've had for a while. Cheri Oteri, Molly Shannon, Ana Gasteyer and Maya Rudolph use to annoy the hell out of me.
I couldn't agree more. Even Kristen Wiig has some of the most annoying characters ever, and while I recognize the talent, I can't stand the majority of the sketches she is in, when she is doing characters. I like her much better when she plays it straight.
BTW, thank you whoever pointed out that the Pharoah skit was cut from the show. I thought I just slept through part of weekend update or something, because I watched it, and completely missed that, and was confused when they were playing it on the radio this morning.
Also agree on Taran Killem (or whatever his name is). He is quickly becoming the go-to guy on the show, and I think he will be taking over for Sedekis as the guy in just about every sketch when he moves on.
And speaking of Sedekis, where does he rank on the list of SNL "straight men". I put him right up there near the top, with the only guy clearly above him being Hartman.
