Without JO and Ray Allen our team is young and fast again, lets not act like Ray was our MVP and best player, he is a bench player that is a spot up 3 point shooter, we can win without him, and we will.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in awhile. He is a year removed from the
All-Star game and was our best player the first third of the season.

He is the best shooter of our generation and maybe ever. He is enormously clutch and makes our second unit a strength rather than a weakness.

A "bench player that is a spot up 3 point shooter" describes guys like Eddie House, James Jones and Steve Novak... Not Walter Ray Allen.

Look man, I know its hard to admit, but Ray Allen is a shell of his former self, yes he "was" the best shooter in the league, but he isnt anymore, that title goes to Steve Novak. Ray is a bench role player at this point in his career, he isnt a franchise changer and his role can be filled in for.

Danny tried to trade Ray every single year, because he knows hes the easiest to replace on the team, he is very one-dementional, he was all but traded this year but Memphis turned that deal down.

I like Ray Allen too and yes he will imrpove this team as a weapon off the bench, but people need to let the past be the past, father time is undefeated.

TP MY BROTHER

This team does not compete for a title without Ray Allen.

He will play, and he will hit shots .That's what he does. It's the playoffs. Let the haters hate, Ray Allen is a hall of famer, and without him, we are not a championship contender. PERIOD.

I predict Bradley to be exposed. I hope I'm wrong... BUT WE NEED RAY

If Ray can play in 3 or 4 games this playoffs thats all we need, think about it, Ray has been a no-show for tons of playoff series.

He was good for 1 game in the 2010 NBA Finals. He completed dissapeared for the rest of the series and Derek Fisher was guarding him.

He was also a no show in the 2008 Playoffs and couldnt hit a shot until the ECF vs the Pistons.

He was good in the Bulls series in 2009.

He has historically not been very relibable in the playoffs, all we need is a few games out of him, if he can play a few games, he will basically have done the same thing hes done his entire career here, show up in a few playoff games.

Well to be fair I don't think he ever adjusted to being the 3rd banana on this Celtics team. Before he came here he averaged 26 ppg and was the go to guy on the Soncis. On the Celtics he's been relegated as the spot up shooter. Ray doesn't look comfortable in that role IMO. Instead of handling the ball all the time, the Celtics put alot of pressure on Ray to make every single shot when he's given the ball. I think Ray has done a wonderful job being on the Celtics, and can do nothing but help this team

well said - people will think up anything to avoid dealing with the reality that one of our main guys is badly hurt going into the playoffs and this is a fragile team to begin with.

the thing i find so frustrating is that i still do not know when he hurt the ankle and have not read a detailed diagnosis of what's damaged. did he tear ligaments, is there a bone cracked, are there bone spurs that have developed ? what ??

Ray is or would have been very valuable in the playoffs, both off the bench and in end of game situations.  But you're right, the C's can work around his absence in a way that they couldn't with any of their starters or probably even Stiemer going down.

More like the ECF.

If ray can play in the ECF vs the Heat and play in the finals that should be enough for us to win the title.

Novak? Best shooter? Just because he leads in 3pt %? Has Ray ever lead in 3pt%? And can Novak shoot at all from midrange, or are you only talking about 3's? There are guys who have led the league in 3pt % who have never been in the best shooter discussion because they are so limited and get easier looks.

If Ray were 1 dimensional, he would be much better from 3 since he would basically just catch and shoot. That is why guys like Novak end up with higher percentages. They just wait until they get the ball from a kickout and are wide open.

What has declined in Ray is many of the other things he could do penetrating and finishing. His decrease in quickness and hops makes him much less dangerous. It is partly responsible for how horrific he looks when he gets trapped.
