I mean he's getting some ticky tack ones, like against Miami he bumped Lebron's body after LeBron travelled. He gets those just like most big men do, and I'll freely admit KG gets more leeway than Greg.

Typically Greg's fouls come from contesting aggressively and whacks a guy while doing so.

I think Steamah is kind of like Chris Mihm 2.0. Good player but just sooooooo foul prone. Mihm never got respect and I fear Steamah may be the same way.

  • You say when......
And i think the ones most dislike are actually the ones on the offense end, not defense. THOSE are the questionable ones.

Perk got into a lot of foul trouble early in his career too. A combination of player adjustment and ref respect fixed that, maybe will for Greg too. Actually, the last time I saw him, vs. NJ, he was playing quite physical and getting away with it from the refs.

I'm sure some are rookie calls, some fouls that he's working to improve on, and some good tough-play fouls that Doc wants him to keep up.

It doesn't seem like he's any kind of chronic ref complainer or jerk, and he's clearly learning and adjusting quickly overall.  So I think especially if the C's do well in the playoffs, he'll be coming back with the fouls less of an issue next season.

I think he is more athletic than Chris Mihm who was slowed by injuries anything. I liked Chris Mihm's approach to the game as he always tried to make something happen out there.

He is a very good shot blocker and has my respect. That is as good as it gets from my perspective.

It is, but he is also four years removed from college and was a 4 year player at Wisconsin, so it isn't like he is a young guy.  He has been around awhile and played a great deal of international ball.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

It's always been a strange thing--centers tend to take the longest to develop and some only really get going in their latter 20's.

Stiemer arrived with lots of skills in December ("I am a shooter.") But also clearly he's been improving through the year as he not only adjusts to the higher level of competition, but learns heaps from KG and by all reports continues to work hard, stay humble, and pick things up quickly.

one of things i like about steamer and not mentioned here, is how he bats rebounds to other celtic players.

often, i see how he cant grab an offensive rebound, but he hits the ball hard, knocking it away from the basket and often to a celtics player.

steamer is smart and has good fundamental skills.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

This thread was not meant to be a "Oh all of Stiemsma's fouls are B.S." thread.

More like wow, guys like Dwight Howard get away with so much it is crazy. If Stiemsma could get away with 1 out of every 10 fouls that Dwight gets away with, it would be a miracle.

For all his fouls Greg Stiemsma is even more awesome, than I realized. Someone noted that he has a defensive rating of 90 (check basketball-reference.com), and I looked up the numbers. He hasn't played enough minutes to make the defensive rating list, which is lead by KG at 94. But I couldn't find anyone with a better defensive rating than Stiemsma. And it's been several years, since the league leader in defensive rating has been under 90 (Ben Wallace had a defensive rating at 87 in 2003-04).
