And THAT..was perhaps my longest post on here. Hope I didn't rant, but I believe I got my point across.

Forgot to mention that the great Bob Cousy just stated recently that BOS had better keep Rajon, too.

TP!!!!! Rajon has been key to our success in the past, and will continue to be should he stay in Boston.

It is illogical because I could not understand any scenario in which Danny offers Rondo for Gasol, and more importantly the Lakers turning this deal down.  If I was Mitch Kupchik and Rondo was offered for Gasol I'd walk down to the locker room and pack up his stuff personally.

There are plenty of rational reasons, you just don't agree with them.  If Rondo is in fact a problem in the lockerroom, and doesn't have much value around the league, I could absolutely see Danny offer him for one of the top 5 big men in the league.  And I could also see the Lakers turn down trading a top 5 big man for a PG who can't shoot and doesn't play that well without the ball in his hands...which is probably not the best fit with Kobe.

I am not saying any of it is true, or whether I agree with either side...but there are plenty of logical reasons for a scenario like this going down.

Unless he improves his game is won't be going to the ASG anymore with Rose, Irving, and possibly Wall.

Other than being drafted 1st overall, what has Wall done?  Hes a far worse shooter than Rondo (9% on 3s this year...) and is a turnover machine.

How is Rondo better than Gasol?  Gasol is probably the most talented big man in the league, and big men are much harder to come by in today's league than point guards.  I'd turn it down too if I were the Lakers.  As a Celtics fan, I'd do it.

Rondo for Gasol. Good trade for both teams.
Gasol might put Celtics over the top this year, at least would make them contenders.
Same could be said for Rondo to the Lakers.

I saw all the posts and one of the things that most people failed to realize is that if Rondo has people to run he is UNGUARDABLE.

My belief is that the Lakers leaked this rumor to help rebuild Gasol's self-esteem and strengthen his deriorating relationship with the Laker comunity.  People in LA want a shake-up.  They do not believe that the Lakers who lost to the Mavs last year, who almost lost to OKC the prior year can actually contend.

Rondo at 10 mil a year!  Not a bad booby prize after the trade deadline!

people still listen to ESPN?

Quote
Ethan Sherwood Strauss, HoopSpeak: Fiction. Rondo is currently No. 17 in PER among point guards (he was No. 15 last year). His adjusted plus/minus is poor and Boston's offense has historically been mediocre due in part to his floor-shrinking shot-avoidance. In all, Rondo's a slightly above-average player unless he starts shooting and getting fouled (at which point he becomes awesome). I don't get the mythology surrounding this guy, but it certainly inflates his market value.

yeah. the offense that has been leading the league in FG% with Rondo at the point. that one.

Uh, yeah - the offense that has been middling in offensive efficiency for years now. Who cares about FG% when overall efficiency isn't very good?

Not sure why this is that hard to believe.

The league wanted no part of Rondo for Chris Paul. Didn't think it was value.

And the Lakers don't want to move Gasol for him, despite their acute need for a quality point.

Rondo will not bring a star in return. That's clear. The reasons are quite clear. The league doesn't value him nearly as much as this board does.

So don't trade him. Simple.

then why does he keep getting voted into the all-star game

The biggest factor in why he's made the all star teams he has, is that the other top level guards in the east have been injured around ASG time. Remember, he didn't actually make the team this year. He got added because joe Johnson was hurt. Also deron Williams played on the west before, and Allen Iverson (who would def. have been voted in based on popularity alone), left.  The only 2 decent young point guards on the east (jennings+wall) both play on teams that are never televised, so when it comes to voting, theyre not nearly as visible.  I'm not saying Rondo didn't deserve to be there, but it really has been a perfect storm of events and circumstances that led to his ASG appearances....not just his play.
