I've seen him play the matador quite a few times today...and yet neither Baron nor Lin(insert clever pun here) were producing big. His numbers are amazing.

People have been saying that Rondo's been relying on his bigs (Perk and later Shaq) a lot. We had KG tonight and that's it in the way of defensive bigs.

As long as you rotate, Rondo's defense seems to work quite well. He's very aware of when he needs to get back.

While JO is still a good defensive big, he does not quite fit that bill since he's quite slow on the rotation and relies on charges. A lot. The more I think about it, the less I like the combination of JO and Rondo on both ends of the floor.

I'm beginning to suspect its intentional. He gambles but he rotates well and the net effect seems to be good. Probably the fan in me speaking here but he also seems to guide his man into traps.

On top of all that, if it's a successful bid, Rondo's usually going the first man up the court.

I wish he'd play more honest defense towards the end of games though. Jeremy Lin scoring 5 points could have killed us.

But apart from that is his risky business defense really that bad at all? Perhaps JO is the problem? Methinks Rondo probably shouldn't gamble with JO on the floor but  how about with guys who can actually move their butts to help? Worked against Deron Williams, worked tonight so why not?
