I wonder if some of these trade ideas originate with front office underlings who pitch the ideas to their bosses, only to get shot down by the GM, then someone leaks it to a reporter. I could see Ainge saying no, then throwing it out there just to see the reaction. He could tell reporter A that there was some interest in a Gasol-for-Rondo trade in the front office and tell reporter B that he never discussed it with LA and be telling the truth to both of them.
