I think Eric Gordon is far from a max player, sorry.

His only track record is that he's not reliable to stay healthy and he's put up solid role player's numbers.

Eric's USG% shot from the 20's to near 27 last year.

I think for a player to be a max player he needs to be able to be healthy enough to sustain the pressures of a high USG% and I don't think Gordon has proven this.

I would only pair Gordon with Rondo if it were at 6-8 million per.

IMO Gordon is a max player (or very close) IF HE CAN GET HEALTHY.

I agree when healthy he is the perfect SG to play next to rondo. He is a young go to scorer who can create his own shot. Together they would form the best back court in the NBA for at least the next 5 years (westbrook and harden would be 2nd best). However health is a big thing.

not to mention he's an efficient scorer, and a very good defender. a bit undersized but the total package. I would love for the Celtics to atleast try to make an offer for Gordon. But not max, maybe around 10-11 compare to 13 mil.

I wouldn't offer that kind of money to a shooting guard who is kind of injury prone. Risk isn't worth the reward in my opinion. Fully healthy, he might be a max player but I wouldn't want to pay that kind of money over 4 years for a maybe.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
Honestly, I'd much prefer OJ Mayo - he's probably going to be much more available. Grizz can't really afford to pay him after extending Randolph, Gasol, and Gay. They may not even extend the QO.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Acquiring OJ would be very easy.  He's been on the market for a first round pick for about a year now

One interesting note on Eric : He did receive the four-year contract extension offer from New Orleans.  So for him to not sign that, he must see himself signing with another team this off-season (Not saying someone specific, just someone not NO)

Or he wants more money than they offered him.

I'd take that a step further and say I wouldn't offer a max contract to a SG that isn't Jordan, Kobe or Wade.  IMHO, max $ is for big men or truly elite backcourt players.  And by elite, I'm talking about players that would be considered top 10 in the league.  right now, that would be a HEALTHY CP3 and Rose and that's it.  Any other PGs or SG's are below max-level (including Deron, Westbrook, Rondo and Wall)
