As for K-Mart, J.R. Smith et. al., I don't know why they would sign with the Celtics once they come back from China.  The Celtics will only be able to offer the minimum, and for the minimum those guys could go to any number of teams who will almost certainly have much better records and much better playoff prospects (both K-Mart and J.R. could be very valuable to the Clippers or the Spurs, for example).
Yeah, I think the C's record is going to take them out of the running for Kenyon Martin + any high quality mid-season buyouts looking to latch onto a contender.

Boston is no longer a prime location for veterans looking for a shot at a title. Not when they are scrapping for a low playoff seed.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
55+ games still left.

Goal of this team is to get to the playoffs healthy.
We've seen them play like this before- it's just come after very good starts to the season and they go into a 10 game lull.
Not having Rondo completely killed us. Avery tried hard and did an okay job, but we don't have a true back up PG, ESPECIALLY when Dooling is injured. Moore was horrible- he won't see 2 minutes in the playoffs. Same with Steimsma, even Quis' is going to struggle getting minutes.
Lots of easy shots missed under the tim (KG, Pierce, JO).

Here's some advice:

We don't have Rondo. We don't have Dooling. We don't have Wilcox. 3 guys that will make a big difference come playoff time.
We haven't gotten a chance to get Wilcox in any consistent run of games- he will make a big difference off the bench coming in for JO and running the floor with Rondo, Bass, Ray and Pietrus.

Some more advice:
Don't panic, three crucial pieces to come back and 56 games to build some continuity with our playoff roster.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

There's no room for "Don't panic" threads because of all the "Sky is falling" threads...

Yeah, uh, 50 games remaining, and a 5.5 game lead. You really think that's insurmountable?

You know what's crazy about that number, 5.5?  That's more wins than the C's have gotten so far this season.

lol...at this point, I think the optimists, pessimists and realists are being beaten into submission.

Inexplicable losses like last night will happen, but wow.

I'm just looking forward to the playoffs.

My main concern right now is Danny pulling the plug on this prematurely.

I have to admit that the posts after last night's game were pretty consistently down on the team.  fairly surprised there weren't more optimistic posts.

You are what you are and right NOW we are not a good team because we are injured, because our captain got hurt straight out of the gate and has played inconsistently because of it, because other vets came into camp WAY out of shape, and because our best player just got hurt and missed a game.

That said the playoffs don't start for 50 games and three months and there is nothing about the teams in front of us in our division that scares me. Young and athletic doesn't scare me. Young, athletic, supremely talented and playoff hardened does. Only Chicago and Miami resemble that last remark. Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey and Toronto do not.

I don't pay attention to the negativity as much because to me it's disloyalty. Giving up on this team with only a part of the season played is premature. I always give it time before I come to judgement if this team is really bad. Only 14 games in and people already coming up with trade ideas to blow up this team. We already went threw big changes over the summer, look who we lost... Big Baby, Jeff Green, Nenad Kristic and Delonte West. Who we gain... Brandon Bass, Keyon Dooling, Chris Wilcox, Mickael Pietrus, and the rookies. 7 new players trying to learn the Celtics system takes time if you think about it.

I don´t think there´s any reason to call people out for believing in this team.

However, it would be nice if this could be a two way street, without the need to question somebody´s f(m)anhood whenever concerns are raised. I have a hard time accepting this kind of "sports chauvinism".
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Do not start threads or make posts for the purpose of "calling out" other posters.  Retrospective threads are fine, "I told you so" threads aimed at making others look bad are not.
