A guarantee that the Lakers would never again win a championship as long as they exist as an organization...

If you can't give me that, then no deal...

Let's hear it?

Potential All-Star, quality starter, one of the following with a 1st rounder, expirings and a first rounder...

(Youtube playlist)

This is a misleading thread because you can only accept what someone else is willing to give.

What frustrates me a lot about these "let's blow it up" trade threads is that people keep forgetting the very reason to blow it up is the same reason you will get little-to-nothing back in a trade.

If KG, Ray, and Pierce are actually to old and on the decline, why would any team give up value (young talent and/or first-rounders)?

Furthermore, why would we trade our expiring contracts if we need the cap space to rebuild?

So to answer your question - it would take a miracle for me to accept tradin Paul Pierce, because there is no deal out there that will net the Celtics the type of talent or assets they need to quickly rebuild a contender.

We need to somehow turn Ray, KG, and Pierce into

1 or 2 Top Tier prospects and 1 or 2 Top 10 picks.

And wind up with $10-15 mill in cap space.

Our future would be looking bright.

(Along with his blessing) I think I'd accept a trade to the Hawks.

Pierce SF/SG
Bass PF

for

J. Smith PF/SF
M. Williams SF

Pierce could provide the Hawks with a scorer/playmaker who can really help Iso-Joe.

Obviously Josh Smith is playing very well right now but that is with Al Horford out. Come playoff time a lineup of:

Teague
Johnson
Pierce
Horford
Pachulia

then Bass, Hinrich, McGrady, I. Johnson, off the bench.

That's a lineup that becomes much more dangerous in the Playoffs, everything ATL loses in Smith they makeup for with players who know their roles and where to get there points.

Every time i hear about the Hawks i constantly hear about how disapointed they are with Marvin Williams AND how Josh Smith just can't seem to get over that hump.

From the Celtics perspective It'd obviously be tough to watch Pierce leave, but this could really jump start a rebuilding movement.

Rondo
Allen
Pietrus
Smith
Stiemsma

then KG, JO, Daniels, Dooling, Moore off the bench

That's a nice team to close out the season, Ray Allen and KG peace out in the off-season. Go after somebody in Free Agency, get back Jeff Green, if you still don't like what you see... let Williams walk and go after somebody else in Free Agency.

There are two players that Celtics fans seem to have their hearts set on somehow acquiring. Those two guys are Josh Smith and OJ Mayo. For the life of me, I don't understand what people see in these guys.

OJ Mayo is the back up to our old back up!!! Tony Allen!

Josh Smith is athletic, but has no jump shot and turns the ball over more than Rondo!

Can you imagine an offense like ours, that struggles immensely to find offense with 2 excellent shooters like Pierce and Ray, with Josh Smith inserted instead of Pierce?

Rondo, JO, KG, Smith, and Ray Allen...The scoring droughts would be simply horrific.
He would make a nice highlight reel with Rondo but he is not getting us anywhere near a championship.
I'd rather wait out Pierce's contract and choose to spend the money wisely then locking up Smith who is always going to be overpaid.
Don't understand the fascination with Josh Smith. He goes on streaks but has zero basketball IQ and no jumpshot.
Way over rated.
I'm 100% in agreement on Mayo.  He's just not very good, though everyone here seems to think he is.

I think Smith would help, however, just from his infusion of young legs and athleticism.  He would be geat with Rondo.

Nothing.

He's not going anywhere.

He's going to retire a Celtic.

Can we please move on?

What I found interesting is how this story found Adrian in this form.  If you were one of the teams placing a call, you wouldn't have any incentive to advertise that far and wide.  But if you were Danny, there could be two reasons to leak this story, and the actual quote and attribution both suggest that it could have come from Danny directly.  Danny's motives?  First, to prepare or even test fan reaction to the possibility, and second, to let other potential bidders know of his availability without having to actually 'shop' him to them.

Nothing may come of it, Danny may only get offers he can refuse, but I'd take the timing and nature of this story seriously.

Is their anybody who wouldn't do this type of deal?  I just don't think it's realistic.

Amnesia.

Luckily, it looks like that's spreading.

I want PP to stay as a Celtic as much as possible. But if a deal that involves Gerald Wallace and a '12 1st round pick will be in place (some fillers to match salaries but the piece of the trade is PP and Wallace + 1st), I think that'll be too good of a deal to pass.

Not saying Portland is gonna do it, but if that's the deal, Paul, I love yah but I'm doing it.

Now we're talking. Wallace was one of my favorite players from the early Kings days and i've always wanted him on the C's. Im not sure how much better he would be for the Celtics than Pierce however. Any deal involving Pierce would be tough for me to swallow.

This may have worked if Pierce were 26 years old. Regretfully, at this stage we're probably looking at "my junk for your junk" type of offers.

An All-Star caliber player aged 30 or younger who isn't a point guard.

I'd prolly throw in one of our two picks too
