I totally understand, and why does everyone always say to get the ball to Paul with the game on the line....Ray has scored more career points than Paul!! So who really knows how to put the rock in the hole????  I know Paul has always been a Celtic and he gets a free pass, but cmon, the only guy that consistently won before they got here was RAY, holy crap he even got the BUCKS To the EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS and consistently made the supersonics winners(with Petro as his center, Ridnour as his point guard, Radmonovich as the small forward....) KG couldn't even get past the first round in Minnesota with Marbury...Pierce was consistently on losing scrub Celtics teams....

Pierce got to the Eastern Conference finals in 02 wit Antoine Walker kenny Anderson Eric Williams and Tony Battie my assumption was right ur a Ray Allen fan and wasnt here before the big 3. And of course Ray Allen scored more career points he's been in the league 2 years longer. Im done arguing wit u man especially after u sayin Pierce is the 22nd best small forward nd KG is the 28th best power forward u out chea trolling nd I wasted my time here ur talkin too wreckless

Hard to say how much the shortened season, no training camp, etc hurt them. Also wonder if KG is just mentally gone after the whole melt down during the negotiation, etc.

They are both useful players, just not the two best players on a championship team like they were number 17 was won. Ray Allen is more or less the same and Rondo has improved, but KG and PP have fallen far. Without adding an elite talent, I cannot see this team winning a championship, i.e. less than 10% chance that we make the playoffs AND KG and PP are elite enough games in the playoffs for Cs to get 16 wins.

To me the strategic question is: how do the Cs get another elite talent? Nothing less gets you a championship, so why make an emotionally painful trade unless it's moving in that direction. Trading any of the big 4 would be.

I totally freaking agree. Except Kevin Garnett sort of seemed to have found something again in the fourth quarter but Doc sat him down. When it comes to Paul Pierce.... yuck. Such a disappointment from the captain.

U put it well, buy the way CeltsFan...they are ranked that low right now in the NBA at their positions...also look at their Hollinger ratings on ESPN.COM....they suck, their ratings are BRUTAL...yeah I'm a RAY FAN, big deal, but I also know the game of basketball, and neither GArnett or Pierce are high quality players any longer...so be it...

I think KGs age has caught up with him.  I don't see him getting better.

Pierce was injured and could get better but at his age he might not.  It's sad that it's happened so fast but realistically we were all expecting it sooner or later.  It was supposed to be a 3 year window.  We were lucky to get an extra year of contention.  It doesn't look like we're getting one last one.

Thankfully we have Bass and Pietrus. Imagine if we still had Big Baby and Pavlovic was playing instead of Pietrus?  It would be even worse.

All we can do is try to enjoy the last few months of the Big Three.  Win or lose these are our guys.  I'll always appreciate what KG and Pierce have done over the years and I'll never question their effort or desire to win.

"I don’t know, it’s tough," Rivers said. "He wanted to go longer and then he looked over at me after [the first] seven [minutes] and he needed a blow. It’s just a tough one. I’m still working on that one, honestly. I like it, honestly, [but] it's amazing. Three times today, [Garnett is] giving you nothing for about four minutes, and then right at the fifth minute when he [is about to] come out, he makes a shot. And then your every impulse is, ‘Oh gosh. You've got to keep him in.' And then you risk the rest of the game. So it’s just a tough call right now. I still like it. I don’t love it. But I think it’s what we have to do.”

Celtics' year-by-year ranks in defensive rebounding rate w/ KG: 8th, 3rd, 12th, 9th and (this season) 25th.

The rebounding and shooting of our F's and C's is terrible.  This type of thread only depresses me by making me face the hard cold facts.  Right now...we stink.

pierce will be fine.  As a show of support, I traded for him in my fantasy league.  Lol.

No, but really... he's getting his legs back.  He'll be fine.

KG might be toast, though.

PP looks tubby and out of shape.  I don't think that boy has seen the inside of a weight room in 5 months.

Kg 's got all kinds of issues...age seems his biggest enemy.

Kobe is playing with the eye of the tiger , he is earning is money and apperas to have kept himself in shape ready to play.

PP and KG should have been in the GYM, trying to keep their jobs instead of laying out crying about more money .

This greed may have cost them more than they can ever make back in the long run.
