Yep.  With or without Green.  He looks fantastic.  I suspect that he'll have a very good year.

FWIW ... Get well kid.

I had high hopes for Jeff being a key player this season.

Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Most disappointing offseason ever?
Afraid our disappointments are just starting

If we didnt go after CP or David west, this offseason would be seen as a complete success I think.  Everyone wanted baby gone...he's gone (and on a contract that'll hurt one of our conference rivals).  We upgraded his position at a lower rate..thats a plus.  We got a healthy Quis back for the minimum. We got a healthy JO back.  We needed a backup center, and got wilcox...the most athletic center we've had since the big 3.  On top of that, our arch nemesis Lakers lost their 6th man of the year for squat, whiffed on CP, and have been getting the cold shoulder from Dwight.  Add to this, that by all accounts I've seen, early marks on our rookies are very positive.

Basically, we didnt hit a home run, but we still did a lot with the little we had.

Jeff Green underperformed last year, and is a bench player regardless.  Unless he was the 1 factor that put us over the edge to win the title, he wasnt worth paying 18million for one year (roughly the same amount that wade or lebron gets).

First and foremost, good luck and get well soon Jeff Green.  Life > Sports

Second, this is a huge setback for the Cs.  I was really looking forward to seeing what Jeff could do this season.

yeah in hindsight that trade didn't really work out for us.

Is it true we are voiding Jeff Green's contract? ...

Interesting ESPN piece about the four NBA players with conditions similar to Green's

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7370188/nba-fred-hoiberg-feels-jeff-green-pain

The players who came back to the NBA successfully after surgery were Ronny Turiaf and Etan Thomas.  Tractor Traylor played many seasons overseas after his surgery, but passed away last year from heart problems, weighing well over 300 pounds.   Fred Hoiberg chose, at age 32 to not play again after his surgery, and is now the coach at his alma mater, Iowa State.

Turiaf played in the D league six months after his surgery, and  played his rookie year with the Lakers the next season.  His surgery was for an enlarged aortic root.

Etan Thomas' situation was most like Green's, a leaking aortic valve, and he missed an entire NBA season, but came back to full strength. Here's a link to an SI story with some insight about what Jeff Green may face

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/marty_burns/11/06/thomas.wizards/index.html

Knowing what kind or quality individual Etan Thomas is, I'm sure he's already reached out to Jeff Green.

Green likely to look to new career training. Celtic luck is about as bad as it can get.

Scary how many basketball players have this problem.   I wonder if it is serendipity or something with the game itself.

Well one thing to consider is how many basketball players have/had Marfan syndrome. It's a connective tissue disorder that has a typical appearance...picture Abraham Lincoln: tall, lean, disproportionately long arms and fingers...sounds like the ideal draft prospect! Wouldn't be surprising that many with Marfan end up in basketball. Unfortunately its the same mutation then tends to produce the extended limbs that causes weakness of the connective tissue of the aorta, leading to aneurysms, leaky valves, dilated aortic roots, etc. There are also pharmaceutical techniques to prevent the progression of the aortic weakening, or surgery to replace the damaged part. I wonder if Green has this underlying his current problem, which is why there was the "medicine or surgery" question thrown around, as to whether it was safe for Green to just not get worse or if he needed surgery to undo some damage already done.

NOTHING goin the Celtics way this off-season.

The best thing that happened to us was the NBA canceling the Lakers from acquiring CP3

Agreed. They were teammates at OKC together, so I am sure he will help him through this.
