heard boston might be in the mix for michael redd. he would be a nice guy behind PP

...and behind Ray, too.
Unless of course you traded Allen to Dal for Chandler, then he would be an excellent pick up to fill the wing with pierce, green and maybe marquise.
then again, Redd and Marquise backing up the wing is REALLY rolling the dice.

Nick Young please! An effective yet cheap scorer.

N.Young would add some nice firepower to Boston's new-found defensive + rebounding strength.

How are we supposed to get Young? He will want a lot of money after padding his stats on a depleted wizards team last season.
Nick Young is a restricted free agent and we would only have the minimum to offer. He would be a great scorer off the bench but the 3 mil goes to a C then the rest are min guys unfortunately.

They couldn't get him.

Was just thinking out loud about who would be an excellent cheap addition and replacement to Ray Allen for the Celtics if they traded Ray for Tyson Chandler ... but Boston would be stuck in the same financial situation so it's a non-starter. My mistake.

Maybe if they amnestied Jermaine O'Neal. Nah, still only leave the full MLE (four years, $20). That wouldn't be enough either. Washington would match that. Oh well.

Too bad. A Nick Young type (volume scorer, role player money) would have been a great final piece to that starting lineup.

Don't you think we are a little light in the bigs department before we address the wings?   Wings are a dime a dozen usually.

Well we have a dozen open spots and only a dime to spend.

Chris Sheridan names his top five hidden gems of free agency, and a couple of them seem like they could help Boston but haven't been mentioned on CB (not that I've seen, anyway). Find the full list here: http://sheridanhoops.com/2011/12/01/nba-free-agency-hidden-gems/#more-2578

1. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Bucks (Restricted)

Every team needs a defensive stopper, correct? (Yes, even you, Mike D’Antoni). Mbah a Moute is the one guy out there this fall who can bring what Allen brought to the Grizzlies last season, and there is a chance the Bucks will not match because of the investment they have already made in Drew Gooden (four years and $26 million remaining on his contract) and their bigger need for a backup center to play behind Andrew Bogut.

4. D.J. Mbenga, Hornets (Unrestricted)

Centers usually cost extra to acquire — that is one of the unwritten rules of free agency that is time-tested. Mbenga is one of the most imposing physical specimens ever to don an NBA uniform, and if you need a guy (at a fraction of the cost of a Dalembert or Chandler) to block shots, rebound and give a hard foul here or there, fewer are better qualified than Mbenga, who has a black belt in judo and could kick the ass of any NBA player in a fight, according to Andrew Kamenesky.   (He also speaks five languages: English, French, Portuguese, Lingala and Tshiluba.)

What do you guys think?

I read the article too and did some research on Mbenga.  I kind of like the guy, although he started playing basketball late.  I can understand him not getting minutes behind the Laker bigs, but he didn't get much of a run in New Orleans either.  He's a smart guy, speaks 5 languages.  A big young athletic body for the vet min., even if a little stiff, seems like a godsend...

id love for us to sign the prince, however only after we get a solid center to rotate with JO. With an addition center on the roster we could use Green and Moute as our backup 3 and 4. With Juan working in at the 4 and against small 5s (ex al horford or J noah)

center   JO,Kwame brown??, Johnson
PF       KG,Green, Moute,J johnson
SF       Pierce,green,Moute

i just mention brown as an example plus we are not going to do much better. People will always be down on kwame brown, true he is a bust as a #1 pick. But as an NBA big he is solid, last year averaged 8pts 8rebounds in 26min, not great but solid stats

  • Intensity!!!
Since we will be looking at a lot of vet. min. guys here are a few I would really like if they will take that:

Troy Murphy, Josh Howard, Marquise Daniels, Joel Pryzbilla, and Desagnia Diop (after amnesty)

Also we add Kwame for the mini MLE and maybe use the stretch exception on him next season. Green takes the QO and we bring back Delonte for whatever raise we can give him. Thus our 15 man roster would look like:

R. Rondo/D. West/A. Bradley
R. Allen/ J. Howard/E. Moore?
P. Pierce/J. Green/M. Daniels
K. Garnett/T. Murphy/J. Johnson
J. O'Neal/K. Brown/D. Diop or J. Pryzbilla

Obviously I would like to substitute CP3 in there for Rondo, but let's assume that doesn't happen.

Green can play some 4 along with Murphy. West can play some 2.

In my eyes with some luck and health that is a team that can beat anyone in a 7 game series.

is this a list of over looked free agents or the free agents with the coolest names? I can't really tell.

I think the only reason these names aren't being mentioned is because nobody can pronounce them.

I like Mbah a Moute. If we can get him for the minnimum he would bring good defensive energy off the bench.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19
